| Bilbo Baggins is turning 111. He plans to have a party and then disappear, setting off on a long journey to Rivendell. He leaves his magical ring to Frodo Baggins. Gandalf discovers that the ring belonged to Sauron. If he regained the ring, he would be able to take over the world in the blink of an eye. Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin set off to Rivendell where the ring will be temporarily safe. On their way they stop in Bree and meet Aragorn, heir to the throne of Gondor. The five of them leave Bree to reach Rivendell. They camp at Weathertop. The Ringwraiths find them and stab Frodo, the ring bearer. Arwen the elf finds them and takes Frodo to Rivendell. In Rivendell he gets healed by Elrond. They hold a meeting to decide what to do with the ring. They decide to take it to Mordor, Sauron�s stronghold, to destroy it in mount doom. Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir of Gondor and Gandalf the Grey join the existing 5 companions to create a fellowship of 5. Frodo is the ring bearer and Gandalf is the guide. They travel into the mines of Moria to get the ring past the Misty Mountains. They fight many orcs. While fighting the Balrog, Gandalf falls into the abyss. Aragorn becomes guide. He leads them to Lothlorien. There they meet Galadriel and Celeborn, elf lords. They receive gifts, console, and supplies before leaving. They set off down the great river. While camping, Boromir becomes drawn to the ring and tries to take it from Frodo. The Uruki Hai, Saruman�s army, attack the fellowship. They capture Merry and Pippin and kill Boromir. Frodo and Sam set off by themselves to destroy the ring. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli set off on foot to rescue Merry and Pippin. |
