| Apparently Pokemon is the 6th most searched for word on the Internet. The problem with Pokemon sites is that there are so many it often takes several attempts to get to what you want. Search engines often come up with thousands of answers to the query. The knack with serching for Pokemon is to be very specific. The other problem is that half the sites a search turns up are either no longer in use or have moved to another server and you end up sent on a wild goose chase clicking on link after link until finally it tells you it can't find the page you're looking for anyway. | The best way to go about searching is to find a search engine you're happy with. They all come up with different sites so you'd be there forever if you tried to search through all of them. In the past I've always found Altavista has the most comprehensive list of pages and is also the best at getting specific information, but a while ago I discovered Dogpile. Now, apart from sounding somewhat rude it's actually a bloomin' good search engine. It goes through about 12 other search engines to collect results from each, including Altavista. That saves a lot of time initially. The other search engine I use is Yahoo. It might not have such a broad range as some others but it seems to bring you some very different pages. | OK, so you've got your search engine and typed 'Pokemon'. Argh! Now you have thousands of pages! Try to decide exactly what you're looking for. Is it something to do with the TV show, or the game? maybe you want information on a specific character or you're looking for fan fiction. Don't just take a chance when searching because you'll never find what you're looking for that way. It's like trying to find a Weedle in a haystack.... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As with searching for anything, be specific. "Pokemon+TV show" should narrow down the sites a bit, then you can always clarify it further by searching within those results for a certain character or episode. If you're into Rocketshipping, search for "Team Rocket+rocketshipping", or if you just want info on them without getting bogged down with romance you don't believe in use a minus instead of a plus. | Sometimes you're just too lazy to go searching. It's just not worth the bother. You know what you want to find but there are too many sites to pick your way through. | The best place to look for Pokemon fiction is fanfiction.net. Though many fan sites have fiction on them, which you will stumble across from time to time, this seems to be the single largest collection of pieces in one place. It'll keep anyone amused for weeks. The fiction ranges from G (univeral) right up to Nc-17 and everything in between so there really is something to suit everybody's taste. Be warned, there are a huge number of AAMRNs so if that's not your thing then don't say I didn't warn you! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Many people are just mad about one Pokemon or human character from the show. Trying to search for sites on one character isn't the easiest task in the world but the Anime Web Turnpike has an enormous list, as well as many hundreds of other links. | Oh, come on, you knew I had to get my plug in somewhere! But my Anyshippers site is the only place on the net, at least for the moment, where you can find information and links to all Pokemon pairings. Whether you're a protective Pokeshipper, or you're dying to see Misty hop into Brock's sleeping bag, there's something on almost any pairing you you can think of, and links to all the best Pokemon romance sites on the net. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| By far the funniest Pokemon site on the net is Pokemopolis which takes a different view of Pokemon and exposes its dodgiest aspects. There's a lot of hostility towards this site because they dare to be different and Rocketshippers everywhere are up in arms about it constantly. A lot of people seem to be missing the point though - whether you agree with their views or not it's a well constructed and devilishly funny site. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is just a starting point, of course. If you search for long enough you can find info on almost any single aspect of Pokemon. Sometimes the searching can be as much fun as anything else, especially when you find some kind of freak page that had nothing to do with what you wanted. One last thing - beware Rocketshippy fan art!
