What is an Al-Khamsa Arabian?
Al Khamsa Arabians horses are those Arabians horses in North America that can reasonably be assumed to descend entirely from Bedouin Arabian horses bred by horse-breeding Bedouin tribes of the deserts of the Arabian peninsula without admixture from sources unacceptable to Al Khamsa. Al Khamsa reserves the right to determine which horses are called Al Khamsa Arabian Horses.

The designation Sheykh Obeyd is adopted from Lady Anne and Wilfred Blunt's stud farm in Egypt by that name. The name was chosen as a symbol of the collective effort of the 7 oringinal breeders in Egypt committed to this preservation cause, and the community spirit which evolved from their shared vision. The name does not imply that only the Blunt horses qualify under this designation.
The Sheykh Obeyd Arabian is one which meets both of these requirements:
1)Descends in all lines exculsively to those Arabians bred by, aquired by, or introduced into the genetic stream by one of the 7 oringinal Sheykh Obeyd Foundation Breeders.
2)Descends in all lines of the pedigree to a combination of the sixty six horses listed in the By-Laws of The Sheykh Obeyd Foundation International.
