The story of how I came to be a fan of Anthony West is somewhat amusing....
Bek and I are regular cruisers in Surfers Paradise on a weekend, for those of you not from around my part of the world The Esplanade is where hundreds of cars come together and cruise up and down the street, stereo's blasting, talking to other people in other cars and generally just having a good time. Anyway for a few weekends I'd been eyeing this blonde guy in a HSV with the WEST plates and I thought he was pretty damn sexy.
One morning my Dad asked me what my night was like and I told him about this hot guy who has this to die for HSV with the plates and he just laughed at me and said:
"Ahhhhh you mean young Anthony West?" I was all like "Dad who the hell is Anthony West?" At this point I followed no motorsports whatsoever, what can I say, I'm naive?? LOL!!
"Anthony West used to ride for the Shell Advance Honda Team in the 250cc bikes" I just rolled my eyes, once again I've sussed out a well known one!! That has become so typical of me!! So I ran out of the living room and rang Bek to tell her, I was seriously excited for some completely bizarre reason!!
Anyways, my Dad gave me his website URL and Bek and I sussed it out, I quickly memorized most of his bio and career history and spent a good hour enjoying the photo section!!
So this season Anthony is riding for the Italian maufacturer, Aprilia, and both Bek and I are going to try and watch every single one of his races from the comfort of our living room, beer and cigarette in hand and I know I'll be cheering him on the loudest!!
