| *~Setting~* |
| Up in the sky there was a full moon surrounded by bright shining stars staring down on a wide green field. Only two figures stood there on the deserted field, meters apart from each other. One of the figures was Julia Saxton. An average looking girl. She had wavy black shoulder length air that shined bright by the moons rays. Her skin was a creamy tan. She had a really pretty face that went with her big dark brown eyes that looked shiny from the light of moon. But right now the only thing sketched on her face was uneasiness. Julia looked ahead of her and saw a dark figure. There wasn't enough light to tell the features on the face but only enough to see that it was a boy, a boy in his late teens. As she looked she felt a longing toward this boy who was just staring at her. She took a hesitant step toward him and a sudden wind picked up. She took another step and the wind went faster. Then she stopped. At the way things were looking if she continued there would definitely be a fierce wind by the time she reached him. But she didn't care she wanted to go to him so she took another step but this one with more confidence, then another step and another and then another until finally she was only a foot in front of him. By now the wind was fiercely blowing. Her hair was smacking her in the face like a whip but she ignored it and took a few more steps until she was a few inches from his face and felt his body heat radiating toward her. But still, she could not see his features except for his ... deep... green...hazel...eyes.... and felt she could drown in the pool of love she saw in them. Distracted by movement from his right side she looked down and saw his hand move up then felt it touch her face and bring it back up to face him. As soon as his hand touched her she felt a wave of love and desire rush through her with a shiver. Then he started to lean his face toward her and she leaned in expecting a kiss when suddenly, she felt a force pushing her back. Then she felt herself lifting of the ground. Quickly without knowing she grabbed for his hand but was to high up. He leaped up and caught hold of her hand but just barely and planted his feet on the ground but it was no use the force was to strong. Julia felt his grip loosen and then finally lose hold. As she was drifting up farther from him she heard a faint whisper in her head: "We will find each other one day, my love." Then he just disappeared * ~ * Julia sat bolt up. Her body was wet with sweat. She finally realized where she was and registered her alarm clock buzzing on her nightstand. She looked over and saw it said 6:00 A.m and turned it off. Then she remembered her dream. Was it a dream? It felt so real. Who was that, that with one touch made her feel feelings she had never felt before, not ever. She thought for for a few minutes more before she heard a faint call from downstairs. It was her mother, Lisa Saxton. Julia got up and went downstairs into the kitchen where her mother was making breakfast. "Hi, Sweetie. I'm making breakfast do you want toast on an egg or just toast with butter?" "I really don't want anything, mom, besides you know I never eat breakfast in the morning because then I feel sick for the rest of the day," replied Julia. She realized her mother didn't notice she was wet with sweat, probably her mother had more important things on her mind, like work. Her mother was to be considered a workaholic, but it never bothered Julia that her mother went to work early and came home late at night. "I know but today is your first day of high school and I think you should at least have a little something. Please?" "All right," Julia said in an exasperated voice, I'll just have toast with butter but can you wait I need to take a shower?" "Okay, go take a shower." Her mother replied but Julia was already out of the room. When Julia entered the bathroom and turned on the lights, she realized she needed to get her clothes and went to retrieve them. When she returned, she looked around in the bathroom. She really thought this was the best room out of the whole house. The walls were white and the floor had tiles that were white marble. She put down her stuff and turned on the shower. She stripped off her nightgown and entered the shower. The water was just right, so she stood there and let the water run down her. She closed her eyes and thought about the dream. Who was that boy in the field? What really scared Julia were the feelings she felt when he touched her face. Julia had never felt anything like that before in her life. Before she could think anymore, she realized she hadn't done anything else besides stand there so she quickly washed her hair and herself the turned off the shower and got out. She swiftly dried herself and put on her clothes. Then went to the mirror and dried her hair with a blow drier. When Julia got downstairs her mother was gone, there was a note on the table that read: Dear Julia, I got an emergency call from work saying they need me to fix a problem. I left some toast in the microwave so it wouldn't get cold. When you get home, call me and tell me how your day was. Mom. Julia quickly reread the note then threw it away. She went over to the microwave and opened it. The toast was cold. Julia took it and threw it away, besides she only said she wanted it so her mom would be happy. She looked at the time and it said 6:40 A.m. If she wanted to meet her friends before school started she would have to leave now. Julia went to the front and picked up her book bag and an extra house key from the key rack next to the door, then left. Outside Julia saw her friends Annie Moonstone and Eric Swathe walking up the driveway. "Hey guys!" She yelled out. They looked up from their discussion, smiled and raced over to her. "Hi Julie," said Eric with a welcoming smile. He was tall, skinny, and had brown hair. Julia and Eric had first met in 6th grade by being introduced to each other by Annie, now all three of them made the best of friends. Secretly Julia thought him and Annie made a really good couple, but she would never tell them, because they would probably just laugh at her and give her lame excuses as to why they don't belong with each other. "Hey what's up?" Said Annie. Annie and Julia had been friends since 2nd grade. Annie was a tall skinny blonde who was known for having an attitude. One word of advice she would give out to people when she first met them was 'don't get on my bad.' Julia really looked up to her. Besides Julia knew a lot about Annie that not even Eric knew. Julia had only one word to describe Annie and that was wild. "I thought we agreed to meet the park?" "Yeah but Annie and I decided to come and surprise you," replied Eric. "So are both of you nervous because for some strange reason I'm not." "Well of course we are Julie, I mean it is the first day of high school and all. You will probably feel it later." Said Annie "I'm not sure Annie, but maybe you're right." Then the three of the started off toward school. At first there was only silence but Annie broke it. "So how are you holding out? I mean with your dad gone and everything." "I'm okay. I think mom is a lot better without him. I still don't know why he left. I know they were fighting but not a lot. Everything seemed fine between them. So right now I don't know whether to be sad or happy. I'm so confused." Julia's father and mother had separated that summer and that was when her mother started to work more. "Why don't you talk with your mother?" Asked Eric. "I would but you know how busy she is with work and everything." "Well I hope everything works out with your mother and you," said a voice from behind them. Julia swiftly turned she felt heat rise to her cheeks. In front of her stood a tall boy with pale skin and short cropped hair spiked on the top by gel. He had on blue jeans and a black shirt. He was really cute. "Hey who the hell do you think you are listening to other peoples conversations," yelled Annie. He started to reply but Annie cut him off. "I don't care if your the president hi...." "Annie! Please be quiet. I'm sorry but she's right you don't have a right to listen to our conversation," said Julia "Forgive me but I couldn't help hearing. Your situation seems serious." he said with warmth in his voice." "So what's your name," asked Eric. "Oh yes. Forgive me. My name is Jacob, but you can call me Jake. my family and I moved here in August from Florida because my mothers job was transferred here." "My name is Eric. He pointed to the two girls. "That one with the blonde hair is Annie and the one with the black hair is Julia." " Aren't you a little pale to be coming from Florida?" Julia silently thanked Annie for asking that very question that was bugging her. He was very cute. She had never felt that way toward anyone before except in her dream but that wasn't real. (Or was it?) He sort of looked uncertain for a second and then replied. "I stayed inside all the time and read about vampires, werewolves, witches, stuff like that." "Oh? I guess that's cool in a weird way," she replied "I think we better start moving if we don't want to be late for school," inquired Eric. Everyone agreed and started walking. There was silence for the rest of the way. When they arrived at the school yard it looked like miniature circus. any kid you saw was either doing some crazy stunt on a skateboard or talking to friends. Julia suddenly felt those butterflies in her stomach, she needed to sit down and let them wear off for a bit. "Hey? Julia? Where are you going? Yelled Annie Julia ignored her, she was sure that if she stopped she would either run away or pass out of being nervous. She had never been good at these sort of things. She saw a bench and sat down. She saw Annie talk to the boys and they went to the nearest tree and sat down, while Annie walked over to her. "What's wrong Julia?" "I guess I'm just nervous." "See I told you that would happen once we got here," she said. "Yeah I guess your right. I mean look at this; we're entering another door in our lives. We're going to high school and I guess now I realized that." "Hey. I guess you're right and now I'm nervous all over again, Thank you." "Your welcome," replied Julia with a mischievous smile. "Hey? Is everything okay over here?" Annie gave a sigh. "I thought I told you guys to wait over by the tree." she looked over at Julia. "Guys. They never listen. You give then one simple order and they still don't follow it." "Yeah but Jake wanted to come over and see if everything was okay." "Yeah well Julia is just nervous." "Well you can add me to the list," said Jake. "Yeah me too," replied Eric. "I guess you can put me in too," replied Annie. "Then lets all be scared together," Jake supplied. Everybody agreed. The bell rang and all the kids started to enter the school. "I guess we should go," said Eric "Yeah I guess we should," replied Julia. She took a deep breath, stood up and started off towards the steps with her friends a stride behind her. * ~ * Down the road from where the school took residence stood an old run-down apartment building. In the back where the sun didn't shine it's bright rays, stood a dark figure, shaped like a human hunched over holding something. It dropped its bundle on the ground with a 'thud' then stepped out of the light and cringed. Quickly, it ran back into the shade and reached into a hidden pocket in its pants and drew out a chain with a charm on it. If you looked at the charm it had a beautiful design on it. Half of the charm had the sun as its design and on the other side was a crescent moon. The figure put the necklace on and walked back into the light, this time without cringing and walked in the direction of the high school. |
