Gor is a fictional planet based on a series of 25 books (a 26th is in the works called "Witness of Gor") written by John Norman beginning in the 1960’s. They were extremely popular for awhile and recently some of the earlier ones have been republished and a new popularity has been refound.
Gor is a counter-earth found on the opposite side of the sun from earth. It has three moons and the gravity is much different then earth’s gravity field, covered with a large mass of water, similar to earth in alot of ways. The planet though much like earth, has a very raw and savage beauty to it, without the pollution that was created on earth by it's own industries. The planet is full of varied wildlife of both plant and animal. The Gorean believes in all things live within harmony, a Warrior will have as much respect for His enemy He fights as His ally He stands with or the beast that attempts to kill Him. Also like earth, it's covered with a large masses of water. Gor has it's own language, weights, measures, money system, time, etc. If O/one stepped off from one of a ship from earth T/they would immediately notice the gravity difference but also the freshness, cleanliness of the air.
Gor is a world ruled by Men and their Male Dominance over women. A Gorean Male a Man that puts honor above all else and highly values His homestone. The Gorean Male tends to be larger and stronger then the earth man. There is many female slaves known as kajira/kajirae. The majority of women although free are only so because of the will of the Men. They are not placed in the same beauty level as a kajira but they rank much higher where a kajira is just considered another animal. There is a saying that says woman never truly a woman, until she is slave. There is also a small amount of male slaves, these are called kajirus/ kajiri.
On Gor, the kajira have specific duties and very strict rules that must be followed. Punishment is swift, and often severe, and can even be fatal. A kajira is expected to learn intricate serves and dances to please her Master, her entire world is dedicated to her Master’s and the other Master's pleasure and making Them happy and nothing else.
