There is a way to modify the Course Utilities so that courses and libraries can be installed directly from the zip file just like in PGA2000. These instructions are written for WinXP, but they will work on Win98 too (I just don't have Win98 here right now to go through them). If you open up Windows Explorer, go to Tools, then Folder Options, then the File Types tab. First find the file extension TCX and highlight it. Click on Advanced. Highlight "Open" under Actions and click Edit. At the end of the URL line for the Course Utilities program (the location should be enclosed in quote marks), type %1 outside of the close quote mark. Click OK to close. Note: On my machine (Windows XP) the url line was not in quotes so I had to browse to the location of the course utilities and select it as the program of choice for that file, it then had quotes and I was able to place a (space)%1 after the quotes. I repeated this procedure for the other 2 files and it works fine. The procedure for Windows 98 is slightly different in that the extensions are not listed the same way. The file names are marked EA Compressed Course, EA Sports Course, and EA Sports Library and when viewed you see the extension in the dialogue box as being TCX,TCR and TCL which is the same way. I found also that when you go to edit the location of the asscociated program there are no quotes so you have to again browse to the location in the TW2003 Bin folder and locate the Course Utilities and manually make that association again. Again as in Windows XP the quotes again become visible and you are able to install the (space)%1. --RD of Night Vision Golf Repeat this for TCL and TCR files. Once this is done, if you open a zip file and then double click on any of these 3 files types, the Course Utilities program will open and the file will be listed in the bottom left box ready to install. Just browse in the right side to the location where the files should be installed. Hope that makes sense. Jeff ----Thanks to Jeff Jarvis for allowing me to post this at my website |
