Charlotte vs. Nina

Nina stood in her corner awaiting the beginning of her match with Charlotte. Still very sore from the beating she had taken from Victoria both in the ring and then in the showers afterwards, she
hoped to make a better showing this time. Wearing a red one-piece bathing suit, she looked across at Charlotte thinking to herself that this woman didn't look nearly as nasty or tough as Victoria. Though Charlotte was much taller, they were both about the same weight and
closer in age, giving Nina a boost of confidence. She thought that maybe, just maybe she could pull off an upset, this time without the help of a disqualification. She was kind of sorry that she hadn't asked anyone to come watch her this time, but her first fight was much too embarrassing to run the risk of allowing her friends or family to witness her next attempt.
In the other corner Charlotte received instructions from her trainer as she gazed across the ring at Nina. Her trainer was very direct in his advice. "Let's not fool around tonight. I watched this woman's last fight and you should put her away quickly. So just go in there, get this over with and let's get onto the next round." Charlotte nodded in agreement. Though she had not witnessed Nina's fight, she knew what Victoria looked like and wasn't surprised at the outcome. She also had heard a rumor flying around about what had happened in the showers afterward. In a way she felt sorry for Nina for what Victoria did to her afterward, but right now she had a fight to worry about.
Charlotte wore black shorts and a black sports bra as she walked to the center of the ring at the referee's orders. Nina walked over as well and looked up at Charlotte, realizing how much taller she really was. At 5'11", Charlotte had over a half a foot height advantage over Nina. The ref proceeded to go over the rules, making sure to give a special warning about head butting since Charlotte had been warned about the tactic in her first fight. The two women then touched gloves and retreated to their corners to await the bell.
The bell rang and both women strode to the center of the ring. Charlotte wasted no time in beginning to pepper Nina with quick jabs. Charlotte's huge reach advantage allowed her to keep Nina at a distance while showering jabs towards her head, causing it to continually jerk backward from the blows. Nina then tried to come up underneath by ducking under the jabs, but when she did, Charlotte hit her with a right uppercut that made Nina stumble. Charlotte then
backed Nina into the corner and continued to assault her with jabs to the head as Nina covered up. But Charlotte's relentless assault was weakening Nina and it seemed to be just a matter of time before she hit the canvas.
Finally, in desperation, Nina closed her eyes and threw a clumsy right hand counterpunch, almost jumping off of her feet to deliver it. Somehow the blow landed on Charlotte's cheek causing her to stumble backward, more surprised than hurt by the punch. But before Nina could move in and try to mount an attack, the bell rang ending the first round.
Charlotte got to her corner and took a tongue lashing from her trainer. He had wanted her to finish Nina off in the first round, a goal she had not accomplished. But Charlotte was determined to turn up the heat in the second round and grit her teeth as she got ready to go.
Nina meanwhile was still a bit woozy physically, but emotionally, the blow she landed at the end of the round had given her some hope. So as she got off of her stool and stood in her corner, she planned to put up more of a fight in the second round.
The bell rang for the start of the round and Nina, with her renewed confidence, came right at Charlotte. Unfortunately for Nina however, her carelessness about trying to attack left her vulnerable as Charlotte quickly caught her with a right to her soft stomach. Nina's mouth opened into an "O" shape before she tipped forward and began to drop to her knees, but Charlotte then drilled her with a crushing left jab to the chin that sent Nina sprawling back to the canvas.
The ref ordered Charlotte to her corner and began to count as Nina got back on her feet at the count of five, though very wobbly. The ref contemplated stopping the fight right there but decided to give Nina one more chance. He signaled for the fight to continue and Charlotte immediately came right at Nina. She began to pepper her head with jabs again, though these blows were much more powerful than those she delivered in the first round. But as Nina labored to block the incoming punches, Charlotte brought an overhand right crashing down into Nina's cheek.
The crowd seemed to collectively gasp as Nina went crashing to the canvas, face down. The ref ordered Charlotte to her corner but it didn't make a difference since Nina wasn't getting up. She was out cold! The referee checked on Nina and called for assistance before walking over to Charlotte's corner and raising her hand in victory. Charlotte was subdued, happy with the win and thrilled to be fighting in the championship bout, but feeling somewhat guilty about knocking
Nina out cold!
When Nina finally came to, she was helped to her feet as Charlotte came over to check on her. She was then helped back to the dressing room, thinking that this was the last time she'd ever step foot into a boxing ring!
