WELCOME TO EARTH'S CLASSROOM'S PHOTO GALLERY
In this space we wish to share with you some of the most recent educational happenings.  This is our opportunity to share with you our exciting experiential moments in color.  Be sure to revisit to see what is new. Today on this page we are sharing pictures of.....
...our Capital to Capital canoe trip on the Missouri River that Earth's Classroom held.  We did this 116 mile trip out of curiosity, for we had never been canoeing on this amazing river ourselves, so we opened the invitation out to anyone willing to participate.  Several joined us on the adventure.  We definitely have a different feeling about the river than prior to our exploration of it.  Even though it has been heavily altered by man the river still holds its integrity of being powerful.  The trip took place October 22nd through the 25th, 2005, and we will definitely be paddling it again next year in October.  Please contact us if you are interested in traveling this historical route.  ENJOY THE PICTURES!
Pictured on the left is the beginning and ending crew who did all 116 miles from the present day Capital (Jefferson City) to the historical first state Capital (St. Charles).  Pictured on the right is our only kayaker that joined us, Steve.  It was his first kayaking trip ever and he did great.
Pictured on the left is intern Daniel with the beautiful Missouri River Bluffs in the background.  Pictured on the right are two female canoeists.  Some of the views felt from another place and time.  Not one traveling boat of any kind was encountered until just a few short miles before St. Charles at the end of the last day!  Perfect!
Pictured on the left from left to right are Bill, Daniel, Jenna, and Jody.  This was a moment when we had four crafts lashed together with a homemade sail in front because we had strong winds to our backs allowing us to cruise at a wonderful speed.  Pictured to the right is the last of the three campsites on a sand beach.
Pictured on the left are Jenna, Jason (Ryan), and Erik holding the first SMALL sail that was used to capture the wind.  Pictured on the left is Daniel controling the guide lines of the upgraded 10'X10' sail.  It worked beautifully.
Pictured on the left is a the group stopping for a lunch...I think.  The picture on the right is the group in Tavern Cave, which was a stop made by Lewis and Clark.  The Tavern Bluff above the cave is where Lewis almost lost his life while climbing to get a view.
