MISTAMUSIC
AUDIO SECTION

I used to think that the songs I write were heavily exaggerated personal experiences or beliefs generally based on relationships or encounters with other people.
I now think it's more accurate to say that they're really about "me".. though perhaps inspired by some of those things. In any case, here's a few MP3 recordings of a couple of my songs... I don't make any claims regarding their appeal or quality... decide for yourself.
The first 3 songs are played & sung entirely by myself with the help of a drum machine.
I wrote this a few years ago & finally recorded it. The vocals are a little rough, the lyrics need tweaking, & the clean guitar should have been cut back for the guitar solo but apart from that this would have to be one of my favourite recordings (not that I particularly like any of my recordings). It's also a different style to what I've been writing previously but I love the sound so much I might use it more often. Incidentally it was written for a girl named Deirdre who was living in America (now lives in Melbourne) who I used to chat to a lot. It's the only song I've really written for someone... much harder to do but wanted to see if I could do it.
A Love Song - (2.9Mb MP3)
A short sample of a song I wrote about the dangers of falling for beautiful people & the blindness to reason we sometimes experience in their presence. As the rest of us know all too well, beautiful people can be very dangerous & deceiving... because they can get away with it so easily. I actually sang the vocals for this recording while driving home one night on a portable digital recorder.
Beautiful People (0.9Mb  MP3)
This one's about a love/hate relationship & not wanting to give someone up even though they're tearing you apart & driving you insane. Sometimes the people we love just aren't right for us and it's hard to see it clearly because as with all things, people only believe what they want to believe & ignore the rest.
Elevator   (0.85Mb  MP3)
One of my earliest songs & not one of my best. I could never write satisfactory lyrics for this song. Special mention goes to my good buddy Mick Pearson who produced this recording as well as playing all the guitars, drum machine programming, backing vocals, synth'ed horn sections &  atmospheric effects. It's just me on bass & lead vocals.
Dream Girl - (2.5Mb MP3)
A "fake live" version of an early Mick Pearson song. Kind of '70s style rock which was loads of fun to play.
Do You Really Want Me - Live (3.1Mb  MP3)
