My Favourite Things

Mona Lisa Smile
I loved this film because it first kept telling you women could do anything, and then at the end it showed that just because you choose to be a housewife, doesn't mean you don't have the brains to be a lawyer, doctor, rocket scientist. You should just do what makes you comfortable... ya know?

May
My attraction to this film is a bit sadistic I suppose. I love the awkwardness of May, and growing with her throughout the film is a pleasure. By the end of the film when she goes crazy and starts hacking people up, I found that I was actually cheering for her!!! EEEEEK does this mean I'm psycho too?

The Exorcist
The first time I saw this film I didn't like it at all. I watched it again anyway. The way it was made intrigued me, so I sat through an entire audio commentary and I now have a lot of respect for the makers of this film. Too bad the sequel was a piece of crapola even the second time.

American Psycho
I liked the arty feel of this film. It had a great sense of style, capturing the essence of 80s yuppie life like Bret Easton Ellis did in his original book. I was never sure whether I should be laughing, crying, screaming or looking cock-eyed at the screen wondering what on Earth was going on.

Requiem For A Dream
This film is depressing. As it goes on, it just keeps getting more and more depressing. The writer certainly gets the point of "drugs are bad" across. I loved the actors and the way this film was shot and cut together. If I had more than two thumbs to put up for this movie... they'd be up.

Grimm Brothers'
Snow White
I always loved the story of Snow White as a child. This horror adaptation I thought was awesome. So dark and icky and just plain wrong. I'm writing this years after I last saw the film, so I don't really remember much of it... I just remember I loved it and that it deserves a place on this page.

Splendor
My attraction to this film is... well... so I have always liked the thought of being in a relationship with two guys. Of course I don't think it would EVER work, and before this I think Threesome already illustrated this point. It's a fun ride though, and damn sexy if you're someone like me.

Under The Tuscan
Sun
My ultimate fantasy... I travel to Europe and run into a hot European and we have a passionate affair and elope. This film isn't far off that at all, so it had my thumbs up whether it was well made or not. Fortunately, the acting is great, the writing is beautiful, and the cinematography? Stunning darling!

The Virgin Suicides
This film is very personal to me. I relate to the girls who were not allowed to experience the bad with the good, but lived a life of regulations, boxed in by rigid boundaries. I thank God that I was never successful in my attempts at suicide and found happiness once I broke free and experienced life. |

These are a few photos (sorry about the bad quality - it was pre-digital camera days) I took of spots around Inner City Brisbane that I found beautiful.

Music is one of the most beautiful creations in existence. You can go through so many ranges of emotion listening to music. During my acting training I was taught to really listen to music... to feel different parts of the music, not just the obvious melody. I love to close my eyes and just move to the music, whatever it is. I am always guaranteed an awesome journey when I do this.

I'm pretty anti-television actually, so it's kind of weird that I have a few favourite tv shows. The main reason I hate it is because for a long time it had total control over me... if there was a show on at a certain time that I wanted to watch, it would mean the end of the world for me to miss it for whatever reason. A secondary reason I hate it though is because as a general rule it's badly done. I really loved the shows Buffy The Vampire Slayer (for the randomness of the characters, and for the spunk of the vampires), Nip/Tuck (do you know how long I had waited to see a drama on telly that showed plastic surgery being performed?) and Extreme Makeover (just because I love to watch surgery, and loved being able to watch someone go through the process of getting real plastic surgery).

I'm a big fan of stuff that gets my legs working... ice skating, rock climbing, bushwalking... love them all! I love camping out in the bush and letting go of the stresses of the city life once in a while. :)

The way I dance is self expression I guess... but then how anybody dances is a form of self expression. I also love to put my creative energies into drawing, writing, sewing and cooking. Apparently I make two good things - soup, and salad. How sad is that?!?

When it comes to food... it's a passion... italian pastas, chocolate, fetta cheese with grilled eggplant, steak, calamari... I am salivating right now. Good thing you can't see me!!!

When it comes to loving a place, it has everything to do with the scenery. I love my country Australia. But I do not want to live here forever. I'm a very big fan of Italy, France and New Zealand, but have never travelled to any of these places. As soon as I can get enough money together, I would really like to go on a long vacation and hit all three locations. I wouldn't mind settling down in Italy and France for a few months/years to inspire a different style of writing.
