| I am now 5 weeks post op and just wanted to share a little about my story of my trans umbilical breast augmentation(TUBA). I chose to have my breast augmentation through the navel for the wonderful advantage of no visible scarring. I chose to have the operation performed by Dr Thomas J Haas of Louisville, Kentucky. He is one of the very few surgeons who offer the TUBA procedure in my area. In my eyes he is an excellent surgeon and an all around great guy! As a teenager I was always thin and could not wait to "blossom", but I just never felt adequate in the breast area. I was thin and shapely but definitely wanted more at the top! As I matured I gave birth to 2 children and I chose to breastfeed them both. I breastfed for a total of two years, and amazingly enough I still had perky breasts, just even smaller than to start with. After my second child was through breastfeeding I was a large A cup to a really small B. I just felt so out of proportion, I had round hips just small breasts. About 8 years ago I was watching television and happened to see the trans umbilical breast augmentation performed, and I was amazed that this could be done. Right then I knew that was what I wanted. A tiny incision is placed in your umbillicus (belly button), then an endoscope is used to make the pocket and view the area. Then a sizer is placed and inflated to the proper size, then deflated and removed. Then the surgeon places the actual implant and then with a syringe it is filled to the proper volume previously decided upon. I could not be more pleased with my results! My implants themselves are McGhan, Saline, Smooth, and round. The size is 390- 420 overfilled to 480 ccs. Pre op I was a very small B cup and this brought me to a nice D cup. One important thing to consider prior to your actual surgery is that the number of ccs you receive may be huge on one girl and small on another. The amount of ccs you need depends on your own personal build!! You can not go completely by pictures of others to choose your size. A good plastic surgeon can really help you achieve what you want. Dr Thomas Haas used sizers in his office to aid in choosing the size for me. It worked perfectly and I got exactly what I wanted. My recovery went very well. At the worse I was uncomfortable but never in any severe pain. My PS had prescribed Darvocet for pain, phenergan for nausea, and robaxin to relax the muscles. This worked wonderfully for me and by day 3, I was pretty good to go! I got my son ready for school, and basically took it pretty easy for the first couple of weeks. No heavy lifting, pulling on the muscles could be painful, as I had my implants placed under the muscle. I reccomend to anyone considering breast augmentation to research all aspects and procedure options. Many questions will come to mind during your research and a good PS will answer them for you. Dr Haas, My plastic surgeon, and his staff were all very helpful to me with all of my questions. To me that was the deciding factor on choosing Dr Haas and I highly reccomend him to anyone! Everyone should have their questions and uncertainties but you should not be terrified of the surgery. If you are terrified, you havent educated yourself enough. The answers are out there, and the internet is a great source of information. Educate yourself and realize what is fact and what is an opinion. There is a definite difference and peoples and surgeons opinions will tend to vary. A good source for questions and answers as well as pictures is implantinfo.com. I have made several friends there and it is a great place to find information, direction, and get actual patients insights on the procedure. In the end though it is your body and your decision! I chose to have this surgery for me and me only. I am a headstrong person and would never alternate my body image for anyone other than myself, and hope noone else would either. If it is done to please another youve only cheated yourself. I am very happy and pleased with my decision to have the breast augmentation. If you have any questions or would like any information from me concerning this procedure let me know on my guestbook and leave your email and I will get in touch with you. I hope this information has been helpful and wish you the best in whatever you decide to do for yourself. |
