Meet Kat. She is quite the character. Despite what is going on her life she will let you know that your problems matter too. I can have a bad day (or what constitutes as a bad day to me) & she will be there to snap me out of it & let me talk about it without too much judgement.
So how did I meet Kat? Well it all started when it was my first season as a Stage Manager at Six Flags. I had to call her to remind her that we had rehearsal for Looney Tunes. I never could get a hold of her but I would always get her answering machine of her & her dad, which at the time I thought was her boyfriend! Gross huh? At this point she was the only person I never talked to over the phone until I saw her at rehearsal. Some memories, of the time when I really didnt know her & bothered her whenever I called her "Kathyrn" despite that she told me to call her Kat. Another memory I have of Kat is when Lizel had to teach Kat how to sashe (glide side to side--a dance term). Lizel used her creative juices & taught her in terms of moving side to side like Kat would do in volleyball. It was a rather funny sight. That is back then when Kat was a little jock.
Then came the time to where I enjoyed her prescence & talked to her ALL the time over the phone while I was living in the dorms. I spent hours & hours on the phone w/her--you know getting to know her.
The best memory I have of Kat & I was when we went to the old movie theatres by Ingram Park Mall and we laid on each other shoulders, ear to ear, looking at the sky and the stars. I remember grabbing her hand as we talked about something I don't even remember. She was so soft, small, gentle, and I remember thinking "This feels so good!"
Since I've met her my life has changed. I think differently about different topics from family all the way to religion. She has made me see things in a light that I had never noticed until I met her. She teaches me & in some ways I am sure I teach her.
Her happiness is very valuable to me & I would do anything to see her accomplish a hint of happiness. However, don't get me wrong, she is very positive with everyone around but herself. She is a very good friend that sometimes I don't think she even realizes it or notices it. She's smart, witty, sarcastic, and has an awesome sense of humor.
The best thing I love about Kat is her smile. When she smiles my heart does a lil jump in my chest. To see her smile, let's me know that something inside her has evolved to make her feel good, even if it's just for a little bit.
I remember saving her life two times in particular. One was the first season of my stage managing experience. Kat was in costume (can't tell you who bc it is a rule, especially when she continues to be a Looney) and she came back to the Oven (hot, box shaped "backstage" area that is outside where the Loonies would wait for their que to go out for show) and was coughing. She told me there was a piece of hair that flew into her mouth while she was performing.... NEXT |
