| Dear Praying Problems, You asked me a question that I am not entirely sure how to answer. I recommend that you talk to your pastor or a parent that you trust that would know about these things. But meanwhile, I'll give you my unofficial opinion. Again, I still urge you to talk to someone of higher authority. I also encourage you to pray to God about your struggle here. First of all, you are right. God dose know everything. But praying isn't to tell God that we need help or to tell Him about something. Praying is making a direct connection with the King of Kings, creating a relationship with God. Also, I find that praying helps to soothe me. I'm pretty talkative and I find that I tell my friends things more than once sometimes. And many times, especially if I am distraut and I'm telling them something that they already know, they still listen to me because it helps if I can just vent. In a sense, that's what God is doing. He is just sitting there listening to things He already knows to help US. Also, God reveals things through our prayers to Him. He shows us how He answers prayers. Another thing that prayers serve purpose for is for us to confess. God already knows that we are going to confess our sins. He already knows that we are going to repent. But we need to do it. Its the action of praying and giving our hearts to Him that we need to do, not necesarily to inform God, but to actually PRAY. In that case, and some similar ones, its not what we say but the fact that we are DOING it. Prayer is a device to grow closer to God. God already knows what we are going to say, but prayer still serves a grand purpose. God isn't going to answer our prayers if we never pray them. He isn't going to comfort us in times of need if we don't ask Him. Prayers aren't to inform God. I hope this answers your question. Again, talk to a pastor if you have further questions. |
| Dear Miss Weird, What is the point of praying to God? He already knows what's going on in the world. We don't have to tell Him. He is all-knowing. So why should we bother to pray even? Praying Problems |
