| Vacation Recap | ||||
| Vacation part I Ahhh 2 weeks of vacation! I was anxiously awaiting the release of DDR (which I will cut to the point and say I still can't order it from Manor.ch!) and Clay Aiken! The 12th rolled around and it was 2 months since I had left Duluth International Airport and said goodbye to my family. Also, it was Gennie Lynn Neuman's 19th birthday. I took out my phone card and gave her a call. It felt so good to talk to her! However, it was said when I asked for Gennie and her mom didn't say Hi Kris! But I guess how was she to know it was me when I live in Switzerland now! not just down the road. She updated me for a good 25 minutes and then she had to get on the road for Moorhead, where I had to go to bed. The next day was 2 months IN Switzerland so Pamela (American), Johanna (Swedish), Simone (German) and I (American) went to Switzerland's capital, Bern. It was like a different country! The city, the language, and the life are totally different than that of Fribourg! When we got off the train there were tons of stores in the train station it was like a tiny city inside. Bern's streets were lined with stores, and stores and stores. Yes, I did buy my very expensive red Puma shoes there. We walked around the city and did some sight seeing (see photo page). It was a good day! The next morning, October 14th, Elise came by with her host mom and asked if I wanted to go shopping with her. So of course, I said yes! We went to Avry Centre, a mall, and she bought some shoes. It was also Clay Aiken release day in the states!!! Well I hate to interrupt this recap but I must get to Italian. Tomorrow I will try to finish updating! Ciao, -Kris Vacation part II Well...going back to where I left off. Elise and I had planned on going horse back riding the next day and it was well with the host parents. Nevertheless, the next day it was 8 degrees celcius and it was too cold according to my host mom and she neglected to tell me we were going to the grandparent's house in Massonnens for her mother's 57th birthday, then go to an aunt's house for dinner! Since Elise lives in the same town, I walked to her house in my jean jacket, and became hot, to tell her I couldn't come riding. She was kinda upset and really wanted to go. She even told her little neighbor girl she couldn't help her with the pony cause she was riding with me. So we set off for the grandparents house to convince Marielle that I should go riding and eat dinner with Elise. Well, when we arrived the grandmother was opening presents and then we ate cake. Which they made Elise and me eat more than we wanted. No wonder why the two of us are gaining weight. Let's just say I ended up going to dinner at the aunt Georgette's house and not with Elise. It was lots of fun and she is really nice. They kept saying how much they like my accent and the uncle wants me to teach him English and he'll pay! Sounds easy enough. The next day was Ocotber 16th, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I ended up talking on the phone to home for about 4 hours that night! Enough time for mom to go out and ride Omar, Dave to do chores and for both of them to come back in. October 17th, I did go horseback riding with Eise! Other than my horse took off galloping up a hill in the forest and then Elise's horse did the same...we couldn't exactly make them stop either. It was fun btu at the same time a bit scary cause we couldn't make them stop. lol After that I decided I wanted to do some groundwork with them and I worked on making them stop and then we lounged them. That night I received a text message from Serguei...yeah...who is sergeui? Well he's some young Russian musician who came on Saturday to our house. So Saturday I went off by foot to Massonnens...about a 1 hour walk...Sergeui believed I should take a bike. Well after about an hour of walking MiMi, Elise's host mom/My host aunt, found me walking down their dangerous roads. Their roads are only wide enough for one car and very curvy. These people drive super fast and swerve everywhere. When one car is going one way and the other car is coming at it they both just drive half off the road! And they dont have shoulders. It's a wonder how they don't have accidents. We only lounged the horses that day cause Martial, Elise's host dad/my host uncle, came and fed the horses and we couldn't keep the horses' attention. So we went back to the house and I got ready for Mass. I went with MiMi and Martial. When we got back, Elise and I started our Fete de Star Academy (Saturday night is the big spectacle of Star Ac. Lots of celebrities come on and sing with the students) and made chocolate chip cookies with swiss chocolate. Other than cutting myself and making me bleed with a butterknife, the operation went quite smoothly. They tasted sooooo good. I wish I had one right now!! Too bad their milk tastes like fat and it's hard to drink it straight. Star Academy was postponed till 11 o clock and we waited. The whole family was piled on the couch and floor. Sadly, I fell asleep at about midnight. I woke up the next morning still on the couch! Then I went and watched a soccer match, after that we ate 15F pizza and went to watch FC Siviriez's soccer match (Nikolas, Bibiane(Elise's host sister)'s boyfriend, played) against Bulle. It was really good and lots of people were there. Too bad they lost. Monday, ohhhh Monday. I realized I didn't send in a request to YFU to go to Ticino! I felt soooo stupid and depressed cause I couldn't go to Ticino(the italian section of Switzerland ) with Pamela all cause I didn't send in the paper. After being confused by Marielle she finally did call YFU and they said to send int eh request form still. So I walked to the Post at Villarlod with Pamela and sent it. We kept planning our trip cause we were excited that I was going to get to go. That night, I went to band practice. Well...again I hate to interrupt but I have to go to Religion. Be back again later to finish this update!! -Kris |
