4 November 2003

Ahhhh...today is a good day!  I am sitting here eatting my reeses peanut butter cups, drinking my 1 liter OceanSpray Cranberry juice (which I just found today so I had to buy it!!!!!, next to my newly boughten still in bag Sophie Ellis-Bextor "Shoot from the Hip" CD that was just released, reading my email from Sarabeth Pohjola.   She is one step closer to England!!  Congratulations Sarabeth! Well...I did spill some juice on my shirt and I hope it doesn't stain, otherwise...yes, it is good!

Friday, I got home from school at about 1 o'clock and Ksnia was already finishing the Ghost movie.  Then she went and played with Thibou.  Marielle was really tired and wanted to take a nap so but she gave me a piece of paper from the post!   I had a package waiting for me in Villarlod!  So I wanted to go get it but I had to watch Ksnia and Thibou!  Finally, it was time to go the ice skating rink, so we stopped at the post then and I got my package from mom and dad!!  I opened it in my bedroom when we got home and I am horrding my milk duds. Marielle opened my candy corn without permission to give Ksnia before dinner and that kinda made me sad.   After dinner, we carved a jack-o-lantern, but Ksnia was afraid to put her hand inside.  Then David came, and I left for band practice.  I was really tired and the whole night I sat there and talked and laughed with Xavier.  Gerard, a Dustin Hoffman look alike, kept telling me to be quiet. haha.   It was all in good humor though.  Of course, proceeding the practice was the ritual boire un verre.  I wrote some text messages to Laura asking her how Halloween was.  From there I went with David, and Florien (sp?) to Farvagny to another bar.   this time only the young people from the band went.  It was fun but I left at 1h30 with Melanie.  It was fun--but not Halloween!

Saturday morning, Marielle tried to dye a part of my hair black, it didn't work.  The night before she tried red and it didn't work either.  So now we say Minnesota hair just isn't the same as Swiss hair.  They left to go to an Allsaints Day mass and I stayed home, knitted and watched Harry Potter.   At 1h30 I went to Villarlod and went to their Mass.  After that I played in the cemetary (which is rock around the church...totally not like ours) with the band.  Of course, we went to the bar afterwards.   It was funny cause I was at a table with Florien, David, Pascal, Thierry and someother kid I dont know his name, and a friend of Florien and David-not from the band.   One time the friend was talking and he said something deragatory about Americans.  I just started laughing and the others joined in.  Nevertheless, this guy was in the dark.  Then everyone said "She is American!" He got this totally confused/blank/and what am I supposed to do now look on his face.   I am pretty sure he just said that Americans were fat.  After that, I went back home and the family and I went to see the grandmother.  However, everytime we go to see the grandmother we never call.  We just go there.  As P-A said, "She's Grandma, where does she have to go?"   Surely, she wasn't home--just like the last time!  Then we went to the Aunt Georgette and she wasn't home either.  We finally ended up at P-A's brothers house, we boired un verre and then evidentually stayed for dinner.  Elise had invited me to her house to watch Star Academy but Marielle made a remark that I am watching it too.   So she didn't let me go to Elise's house, I fell asleep before the end anyways.  I really want to see Star Ac's concert!

Sunday, I ran to a neighboring town to buy some icing for a cake and it took 50 minutes.  I was happy to run and my knee didn't hurt!!  Maybe I can start running again and finally loose some of this acumulated Swiss fat.  Then, we went to Massonens to the grandparents house.   It was the party for P-A's 41st birthday.  Marielle's brothers and their wives and enfants were there too.  (Sebastian, Severine and Maelle, and Yves, Janick, and Maxime) We at the hunt aka Roe Deer that the grandpa shot last week.  It was a really big meal and afterwards we all walked to the soccer game.   I thought it was a beautiful day and I only had a long sleeved shirt, a vest and my jacket unzipped and I was fairly warm.  Marielle had a heavy sweater and a parka!  We couldn't even see our breath and she was standing all curled up like it was -50 out.   So of course, we had to leave the match early cause it was soooooooo cold.  I had a headache that night but I really wanted to read my book for French, instead I started knitting a new scarf which is alot nicer.  The funniest comment of the day, which made us laugh for along time was, when P-A asked "Is that scarf for this winter?"   It is coming along quite well and I hope to finish it before this winter!

Yesterday, I went to math class and surprisingly we had a test!  I didn't know about it!  I guess I didn't understand the teacher when he told us about it.  2 hours long and 6 questions.  Actually, I didn't have enough time to finish.   We got the test back today and I received a grade on it!  I got a 3 points out of 5 possible.  I looked at other peole and they had 3.5 and 3.75.  And this is their first language.  So I felt pretty good.

I forgot my saxophone in the math room, later I saw the teacher and told him, I ended up later going to the office and getting the room's key to find that it wasn't there, went to band late and some kid had brought it there.  I was relieved.  Not to mention I missed the bus that morning.   It drove right in front of me!!  So I had to go ask marielle to drive me to the train station. I almost missed the train on the way home too cause I was reading my email!!

I went home to the table all set for dinner and we had steak fondue with mushrooms in it.  We had a little party since it was P-A's real birthday.  I had sent him a text message that day saying happy birthday. Afterwards, Stefan his brother came over and I went on the computer to work on my art project--which I found out today I didn't understand the directions!!!!   To look at the brighter side, out of the entire 3rd year, my painting was one of the 5 on the wall!!  I received a 5.25+!! The best grade you can get is a 6.  The highest grade in 3B1!  The others got 4s or maybe even a three.  The next highest I think was a 5.   I was proud.

I also had band last night, but I had a stomach ache, and I have been sleep deprived for the last 4 nights--about 6 or 7 hours a night.  Xavier wasn't there and I only really talked to Gerard--the 50 yearold Dustin Hoffman who's wife is British)   He's really nice and he always asks David and Florien if they treated me well on Friday nights.  He refers to me as "Our little American."  Thierry (I can't pronounce his name in French!  Its like Tee-air-ee but with their hard R) went home early cause he was sick.   Then I went home and proceeded to finish my art on the computer and ended up talking to Mom and Laura.  However, that dumb computer was having problems and I could read what they wrote but I couldn't send anything!  Sorry to Karen and Brody cause I never got to exlain and say goodbye.

Arab nationals...ohhh I wish I was there.  This week is the Arabian Horse European Championships in Verona, Italy!!!!  SOoooo close but still so far away.  ::sighs:: I want to go sooo bad.  I really miss the Arabian Horse Times.  I really want to go see some Arab farms.   I wonder what I am doing next Saturday...I wonder if I can squeeze one in!!

Tomorrow night at 0h45 Arsenic and Old Lace will be on in French!  I am going to have to watch it!!  I will set my alarm clock if I have to.

I wish I could fall asleep right now.  Actually, I could lay down in this room and I don't think anyone would notice.  I am all alone in here anyways.

Write you soon,
