Our Behavior Plan

On the first day of school, I will explain to the children the rules of our classroom, which will be posted on a bulletin board.  Each child has a pocket with four cards in it.  Each color represents their behavior for the day.  Each day every child will start off with a
green card.  This indicates that the child is following directions and is displaying good behavior.  If he/she breaks a rule, the child must change their color card.  Each color card indicates a consequence as follows:

   Colors                        Actions                            Consequences

Green                         good behavior                   praise

  Yellow                        one infraction                   warning

Blue                           two infractions                  time out and 5 minutes
                                                                                off from recess

Red                            three infractions               out of class time out, no
                                                                                recess and a phone call
                                                                                home

Additional infractions will result in a conference with the parent(s), removal of class privileges, and/or a referral to the offic
e.

A behavior folder will go home daily, which needs to be signed nightly and returned the following school day.  The behavior folder contains a calendar for the current month.  At the end of each day, the children will color in what their behavior card showed.  If a student does not have a
green card for the day, he/she would color their calendar day with the color they received and the rule that was broken.  Please expect to see these behavior folders daily.  Students who end the week with at least four green cards will be able to participate in Fun Friday. Students are allowed one yellow card during the week. Our Behavior Chart helps to teach children that they must be responsible for themselves and their actions. They make choices and are responsible for their choices.  Please encourage your child to have a GREEN day!
