| Missouri's Brightest Minds By Victor Skulavik II from Upsilon Kappa Talk about collaboration! A small amusement started by the Upsilon Kappa chapter, this monument to ingenuity and teamwork is what results from a lack of supervision, boredom, and too much time. At its peak, it was twenty-one "stories" high. However, because of its internal instability, an executive decision was made to rebuild with two towers at fourteen "stories" high. This was a challenge to all who contributed and a monument to the grand things that can happen when Phi Theta Kappa members work diligently togeether to achieve an unthinkable goal. A call to all of us could be no clearer: with perseverance, we can achieve anything. From the April 2005 chapter newsletter of Upsilon Kappa, Alex Grigsby, Editor |

| At Regional convention, five new regional officers where elected, the hosting of two major events were sponsered, and a good time was had by all. As a region, we were told by Faye Christian that out of all the regions, Missouri truly represented oneness. I have heard many definitions of what was meant and have decided to look it up. one-ness: noun, the quality or state or fact of being one: as A: Singleness B: Integrity, Wholeness C: Harmony D: Sameness, Identity E: Unity, Union. (Merriam-Webster online www.m-w.com) I don't think she meant that we are all the same. I think that she saw in us a special harmony. She saw how we pull together. She saw how supportive of each other we are. How even though the meat packers behaved interestingly (remember the fire alarm), we were courteous to them and the staff. Yet even though we were all those warm and fuzzy things we had lots of fun and loads of spirit. I would like to keep that spirit going all year. In an effort to do that, I would like a convention memory from this or any other convention to publish. I want to remind everyone how much fun we are as a region. I think as we get farther from each convention, we tend to forget as the non-Phi Theta Kappa world presses in. Please submit each item by the 15th of the month. So without further ado here's the first memory: |
