The Life and Times of
Kristen Walters
As told by Lois Robbins

The names have been changed to protect the innocent and some parts added for dramatization. (remember those old lins in cop shows? LOL)

Once in a land far, far, farrrrrrr away two people fould they were with child.  Now the mother was a brave sort of soul and felt this was going to be a blessing to their little family unit.  Little did she know that the child in question ws going to be a challenge from the moment of conception onwards!  Poor mom fought the heroic battle of morning sickness, moved on to the joys of swollen ankles, and "Honeyyyyyyyy" *sniffle..sniffle..sob..sob* "I can't find my feet to put on my shoooooes!!"  Soon the date of arrival came, and mom was THRILLED that at last she was going to see her feet again (and oh yeah the baby too)!
But, alas little did she know that her little one was not ready to face the world yet.  Mom began to grow equally determined that she was going to push her little chick out of the nest "so to speak" and she was fed up with the lost feet and aching back.  So she began a walking regime that would have rivaled that of any drill sergeant!  At last the moment arrived and mom went "Yipppppeeeee!!!"  Ahem...  At last little Kristen peeked out to view the world for the first time on January 13, 1982 and the little family ws thrilled to see her!  But, little Kristen was to bring even more havoc into their world.  She cried inconsolably, was constantly colickly, and in the words of her dear mother, "Kristen was the projectile Queen."  The would begin taking bets on just how far little Kristen would send her daily meals across the rooms.  Would she hit the wall this time?
As the years went by little Kristen finally got over that little antisocial behavior, and soon was making the family quite proud of her accomplishments in life and school.  Before long Kristen had graduated from high school and left the nest for good when she was 17.
After a little while Kristen was ready for the challenges of college and marriage and plunged straight ahead applying her skil of organization, tenacity, and resourcefulness to both.  Kristen joined Phi Theat Kappa in the fall of 2004, and after speaking with the then Kappa Tau Annie Willis, who had to step down, she decided that she could take the position herself.  So our own sweet Kristen stepped headlong into the fray of Phi Theta Kappa officer and did a really fine job of it.
Here are some of your fellow members and officers own words that they wanted to share with the rest of you:
Sandra Diehl, Kappa Tau Vice President of Correspondence, "She began attending meetings and stepped up to take the position Annie left open.  I'm not sure if Annie coerced her to take her vacated spot, but I do know that she ws vouched for by Annie.  I remember early in her role, she kept offering to help me do my job of typing up the minutes, since she could see I was being pulled in many directions.  She just wanted to do more for Phi theat Kappa (that was before all of her own responsibilities rained down on her).  She was a self-starter.  I offered to send her a computer file with a formula on the chronological listing, in addtion to the hardcopy that I had previously provided.  She choose not to wait and recreated it herself.  She is not only a college student and a Phi Theta Kappa Officer, but for a while, she was the primary bread-winner in her family.  I am still amazed that she took on regional officership.  I don't think she thought she'd be elected, but you couldn't tell it by talking with her, her competitive streak was showing!  What a way to jump in the deep end of Phi Theta Kappa!  She is definately enjoying the experience that she has already encountered.  I do know that she loves Care Bears.
Kay Thomas, President of Kappa Tau Chapter said, "One thing I can say about Kristen is that she likes to do a job well.  She also loves Phi Theta Kappa and wants to do her best.  Kristen was very helpful when it came time to turn in our hallmark award information.
Megan McCraw, member of Kappa Tau chapter and friend had this to say, "I thought that since I was Kristen's campaign manager for Regional's that I could give some info.  Well, she must ahve gone over her speech about 50 times before hse was satisfied with it & then she didn't even use the same speech when she spoke in front of everyone^_^.  Kristen is very much in love with her husband & talks about him all the time^_^.  He helped us out a lot for the campaign.  She worked at QuikTrip & when we were working on her campaign, she would work 11 PM to 7 AM & then go to class!!!!!!!!  (Crazy, but she does it & still manages to keep her grades up!!!!!!!)  I know that she is extremely excited about being a regional officer and that she will be awesome!!!!  She considers herself and her husband to be spiritual, but not religious.  Kristen has two very pampered pet ferrets.  She loves coffee and bagels with cream cheese (she's very picky about her cream cheese.)  She's 24 but looks 20 (& if it stays that way, you go girl !^_^!).  Kristen is awesome with finances and is extremely organized.  She is personable & interesting and definatly and individual.  It's refreshing to me to be around someone who does not just follow the crowd, but who has her own intelligent ideas about the world and society in general.  She does not dwell in the past, but focuses on the present and makes the most of it, making the most out of the time she is given.  Kristen is very mature and takes responsiblility for her own actions.
So I leave with these parting wards from Paul Harvey, "And now you know the rest of the story."
