| * Our classroom uses FROG folders to help us learn to be organized and responsible every day. This notebook will last the entire year. I hope that you find it helpful in managing lunch money and menus, calendars, notes, spelling words, and much more! * ZIPPER POCKET: Please use this to store lunch money, book orders, permission slips, bus notes, excuses, important notes, and fundraising money. * SPELLING WORDS: A new list of words will be sent home each week. Starting the third week of school, or the first FULL week. The list will also include word wall words for study. Please leave the list in the notebook for the week, since it will go back and forth every day. You will also find the spelling contract information in this section. *Helpful Handouts: This section includes: DOLCH SIGHT WORDS: The Dolch Words are the 220 most frequently used words in books that children read. The lists are in order of introduction. Pre-primer, primer, and 1st grade. These lists are studied in all of the primary grades, and are VERY IMPORTANT! Childre who learn to read these words have a better base for beginning reading. These words cannot be sounded out- that is why they are called sight words. Please leave the list in the FROG notebook. It is laminated for durability. If you would like another list to hang up at home I would be happy to send home an extra copy. You can make flashcards of these words as well to help your child learn to read them with ease! HANDWRITING SHEET: This chart will allow you to see the proper letter formation your child is learning regarding good handwriting. If your child has poor handwriting please place the chart in front of them while completing homework to encourage good handwriting. * SCHOOL NOTES: This is for parents to check daily for memos and important information about the classroom and from administration. Here you will also find our monthly calendars, BOOK-IT calendars, lunch menus, etc. * BEHAVIOR CALENDAR: For each good day I will place a stamp on your child's behavior calendar. If there is a problem there will be a note letting you know what your child had difficulty with that day. Students are working towards different goals each month, some are team, some are individual, some are whole class. Good behavior will always be recognized! * GREEN FOLDER: To ensure that you are aware of your child's achievements and difficulties I will be sending home all completed work on Mondays. They will be held in your child's green folder within the FROG notebook. Within the green folder will be a log which allows for parent/teacher communication. This log requires your signature and allows you to express any concerns. * HOMEWORK FOLDER: Please check the homework folder every day. I will have most assignments written on the weekly assignment sheet for the week, however due to unexpected schedule changes or students needing more time in school to develop a concept the homework may change for the week. Students will write in any new or changed assignments. The homework folder will also hold any materials that may be needed for homework completion. Competed work for the spelling contract may be held in this folder until they are ready to be turned in. FROG NOTEBOOK RULES 1. The FROG notebook must be returned eacery day. This is your child's responsiblity to remember! Please help them get into this routine by helping them put their notebook in their bookbag every night prior to bedtime. 2. Take good care of your FROG notebook, we will use it all year! 3. Share your notebook with whoever cares for you every night. 4. Put your homework back into your homework folder after completing it. 5. Don't add anythng extra to the folder, or take anything out but the papers in your green folder. Your parent or guardian can remove items as needed. 6. Don't doodle or draw on your folder or on anything inside your folder. |
