DANIELLE KEENAN NAMED MISS TEEN TOURISM CANADA 2001
Canada's representative for Miss Teen Tourism World has been named, and she is Danielle Keenan of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba. Danielle will represent our great nation in this most prestigious beauty pageant deemed the symbol of beauty.
Danielle is not a novice when it comes to pageants. She is a former Miss Teen Manitoba and was a finalist at the 2001 Miss Teen Canada International pageant. She is currently a model with BDM pageants, based out of Winnipeg. Danielle hopes to expand her portfolio and possibly work out of the country. This title will be a step in the right direction.
Danielle is the proud daughter of Eugene Keenan, born and raised in Bath, New Brunswick and Amanda St. Germain of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Danielle follows closely in the roots of her father, travelling to New Brunswick once a year. This is a great feat for New Brunswick as the current Miss Teen Canada International is Lorraine Savoie, Miss Teen New Brunswick Int'l.
1999 - 2000 Miss Teen Tourism Canada was Darcie Friest, who finished as a top 6 finalist and Miss Internet! Darcie was selected MTTC due to her high placement at the 1998 Miss Canada International pageant where she became 2nd runner up & Miss Swimsuit while being the youngest contestant there, as well as she was still considered a teen in this competition.
The Miss Teen Tourism Canada is in its second year of production. It is run by Christine Boyer of Pageants North in Ontario. She selected a unique approach to choose this years winner. Actual stage pageants are quite expensive, she says, and in the first few years it is very hard to find delegates. Instead, delegates were asked to send in 3 photos, answer a questionnaire, and complete a written interview over the internet. These pictures and answers were posted and the public was then asked to vote for their favorite delegates whom they wanted to represent Canada. This was 50% of the final score. The interview was the other portion. Miss Teen Tourism World is a combination of beauty, talent, personality, and poise. Delegates enjoy a week filled with touring, publicity, rehearsals, and fun. The competition location has not been determined but is rumored to be Bangkok, Thailand.
Danielle will enjoy a full year's reign promoting the title, herself, and the organization. She will travel around Canada and dedicate her year to charities. She will also promote her self platform on Eating Disorders Awareness & Prevention by speaking to students around the country. She will also be raising funds to travel to the world finals.
