Eight Things Kids Can Do is a set of eight steps kids can take to help protect and preserve the rainforests in their everyday lives. This is a concise, one page list that can easily be printed out and turned into a hand-out for students. The steps can also easily be shortened and made into a poster or hand-out for younger children with less words and more to-the-point ideas. ![]()

The Animal Search from Kids' Quest is a fun way for kids to spend time online and practice some skills at the same time. This site is good for recognition of animals of the rainforest. It's fun because it's a search and the user needs to locate all of the animals in order to "win". Printing this page could make for a fun extra credit assignment for older elementary students or activity sheet for younger elementary students. ![]()

Climb Into The Canopy with the narrator. This page is the chronicled investigation of a curious explorer in the Amazon Rainforest. Exciting climaxes and eye-catching graphics makes this an inspirational site. Teachers might want to have their students, regardless of grade-level great such a story starting with a line like: "I stepped into the Rainforest and I saw, heard, felt, and smelled…" ![]()
The Tropical Tribune is a newspaper created by students for students on issues related to tropical rainforests. It is published by the students of J.C. McKenna Middle School in Wisconsin. It is comprised of articles written by these students. Contributions are welcomed and encouraged. From suggestions on how to create a tropical rainforest in the classroom to a comprehensive fact sheet, this site is packed with information. Amazing Interactive Rainfall Comparisons are made at this educational site. This particular page compares the rainfall from the Eastern portion of the United States to that of the Amazonian Rainforest. It's animated! Check it out! ![]()

These books would provide useful information for teachers in preparing to teach about the rainforest.
