| Here are a few games that my kindergarten students enjoy. I'm sure that your students will enjoy them as well. Come back often as for some new games will be added from time to time. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Games for the School Year Knock Knock Judge I have one student in the front of the class sitting in a chair facing the wall and closing his or her eyes. I touch a child to speak. The child disguises his or her voice and says "Good afternoon Mr. Judge" or "Good morning Miss Judge" Then the judge turns around and gets to guess three times who was speaking. Then the person that talked gets to be the judge. Shoe Box Relay Have the students put one foot in the shoebox, they slide to the end of the room and back, then the next person races. Sheet Parachute Cut out a hole in the middle of a sheet. Have the kids hold on to the sheet. Every so often throw a ball into the sheet. You can use nerf balls, ping pong balls, or bean bags. The object of the game is to not get any balls in the hole. The Little Mice Are Coming This game, you need to pick 3 children to be mice, and one child to be the old gray cat. The rest of the kids will be sitting in a circle. Have the 3 mice enter the circle and do the actions, then have the cat come in the house(circle) and chase the mice. The song goes like this: The little mice are coming, coming, coming. The little mice are coming inside the house. The little mice are eating, eating, eating. The little mice are eating inside the house. The little mice are sleeping, sleeping, sleeping. The little mice are sleeping inside the house. The old gray cat is coming, coming, coming. The old gray cat is coming inside the house. The little mice are running, running, running outside the house. Alice the Camel This game you have three children stand up as the humps of the camel. As you are singing about humps, the children should be bending their knees amd moving up and down. When you say boom, boom, the children should move their hips back and forth, and then one child should fall down. The song goes like this: Alice the camel has 3 humps, Alice the camel has 3 humps, Alice the camel has 3 humps, watch Alice go! Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! Alice the camel has 2 humps, Alice the camel has 2 humps, Alice the camel has 2 humps. Watch Alice go! Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! Alice the camel has 1 hump, Alice the camel has 1 hump, Alice the camel has 1 hump. Watch Alice go! Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! Alice the camel has no humps. Alice the camel has no humps, Alice the camel has no humps! Alice is a horse! Doggie, Doggie, Where's my Bone One child is sitting up front on the floor facing away from the kids, place a wooden block or something to represent a bone behind the child, tap one child on the shoulder to get the bone, that child sneaks up to get the bone and puts it behind her/his back. Then the class chants "Doggie, doggie, where's your bone, somebody took it from your home, guess who? The child guesses 3 times, then the child that had the bone gets to go up front. Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar This is a good game to learn names, but my class loves to play it all the time. The kids sit in a circle on the floor, They chant this poem and clap their hands and tap their thighs and continue to do this each time they chant the poem. The teacher starts it and ends the chant once it goes around the circle. They say "Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar, Sally stole the cookies from the cookie jar, Who me? Yes you. It couldn't be. Then who? That child then says the persons name that is sitting next to her. Continue the chant until you get to the teacher. After I say Who me, they say yes you, and I say I ate them all and I rub my tummy. |
