Prophecies 8: Her Alliance

“So what did he want to talk to you about?” Ron asked as the eight walked down the stone streets of Hogsmeade on the cool October morning.

“He and Remus just wanted to ask me some questions about Hermione...Her parent’s and brother  are missing, What she said in the bank wasn’t true as she has no family and that gift she gave me apparently once belonged to Salazar Slytherin and is one of 2 known magical objects to deflect all curse even Avada Kedavra. Did either of you know she had no family...I didn’t know that and how would she have an object that belonged to Slytherin. Oh and to make this story even more entertaining I finally had a vision last night too...Nothing for months now all this in a matter of 2 days...” Harry huffed angrily and kicked a stray pebble. As he, Ron, Luna, Dudley, Dean, Ginny, Lavender and Neville walked towards the Three Broomsticks after several hours of browsing around the various shops of the small Wizarding community.

“I knew she didn’t have any family... I remember Christmas 4th year. She had a rather small pile of gifts and I asked were the rest at home and she said no...That was it. Then I asked about gifts from her extended family and she said this was it...Her mum and Dad was all she had...then she went all quiet...then as usual she wrote in her journal...” Lavender said calmly lost in thought as the 8 walked inside the crowed bar room and found a table near the back.

“You know not to sound rude or anything but I always thought of all the witches and wizards I knew in school. Hermione would be one that would last to the end if Voldemort was ever to come back...I was so surprised when I read in the Daily Prophet what happened to her...that I just couldn’t believe it...I thought it’s gotta be a mistake...” Dean said as Madam Rosemerta came over to the table with seven butterbeers.

“Ya me too...” Ron said grudgingly as he shook his head.

The eight sat in silence completely lost in thought of the girl whom they thought they knew so well, but had thus since realized they knew so little. The arrival of a group of Slytherin lead by Regina Renault and Draco Malfoy went unbeknownst to seven of the eight. The only one whom knew more then he should sat there and watched as the 8 Slytherin’s took seats  two tables away from there then had the audacity to make the typical rude comment at how nice and quiet it was since a bushy haired know-it-all bit the dust in loud voices that carried across the bar. It was the 8th person who stood up and put a stop to a fight that most likely would have left the silenced bar in complete disarray if a fight broke out.

“Guys don’t it’s not even worth it…” Dudley said as he looked at his friends with his hands held up to stop the curses that were itching to expel from their wands and lips at the table behind them. The other patrons watched wearily at the two groups of teens who looked ready for show down.

“Ah look the baby Dudders doesn’t want to fight…” Regina said in a mocking voice.

“Not surprising the Mudblood is a weak as you can get…” Draco said with a smirk.

People gasped at these words and 40 more wands pointed at the group of arrogant Slytherin’s. Dudley spoke again only this time at the room at large.

“Hold it everyone…there’s something I need everyone to understand before everyone does something they’ll regret… They are not like us… They were not given a chose as to whom or what they should be. They were bred into darkness with depraved indifference and cruel injustice at the like of which most will never know.  They have no understanding of trust, or hope or love. They thrive in misery and wallow in decay because that is all they know. So do not waste the curse and hexes you believe they deserve on them. For if given that chose I doubt very much they would be that heartlessly malicious.”  Dudley said in a low clear voice as he looked at the group of teens with a look of such astonishing pity and sadness that the teens at that table silenced at once and for the rest of the day made no callous comments to anyone. As the 8 walked back to the feast that awaited them the inevitable question was asked that made Dudley want to kick himself for his abrupt behavior earlier in the day.

“What makes you think that about them?” Harry asked as he looked at his cousin with look suspicion in his bright green eyes.

“Let me ask you question. Do you think if you had been raised the same as me you would be able to escape Voldemort as many times as you have?” Dudley asked in a quick serious voice. The group stopped at these word and 6 pairs of eyes focused on the 2 cousins who stood stone still looking at one another.

“I don’t know…” Harry said slowly.

“We’ll you know what I think. I don’t think you could have done it. I think he would have killed you 4th year had you not be raised the way you were. If you were given everything, the way that I had been you would never have come to harness that power that resides in you. It is a power that most can only dream of…It guides you to do the unthinkable the unimaginable and at once will save us all in the end. See the difference between them and you is that they were predisposition to be that way…They will suffer because of the environment at which they were raised in was at once driveled by the very people that created them. I am not telling you this to make you pity them. I tell you this to make you see them for what they really are. Therefore, you can understand why they are the way they are. Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance, can there be recovery.” Dudley said coyly with a small smile, Harry eyes widened in shock as he remembered another who said these words to him.

“My God…How did you…” Harry said haltingly eyes wide in amazement.

“Voldemort wasn’t the only being that awoke on that cool June night… I was lying in bed reading a Playboy when all of a sudden a feeling of complete dread filled me. I knew that he was back, but I was not sure if you were safe. So, I drop the magazine, got dressed and left my dorm. Crept quietly out of the grounds of my school and got to Kings Crossing in less then an hour, go threw platform 9 and ¾ and board the train. Arrive several hours later to Hogsmeade…still worried sick about you and telling myself your safe, that even though he is back that you’re fine. I got to the station too find my mum and Albus there waiting for me. Bare in mind that the previous year I had figured out I was a wizard, that I could do magic But I couldn’t even talk about it. I spent all of my forth year so pissed at my mother that when I saw her I just lunged. She hit me with a full-body bind, then covered me with an invisibility cloak and floated me up to the school. Sat me down and told me everything…well almost everything. Needless to say that an experience like that will enlighten the most rigid of people.” Dudley said calmly as he reached into his robe pocket and pulled out a cigarette and lighter.

“I thought you quit…” Harry said with a smirk.

“Ya well I have a borderline personality disorder and obsessive/addictive nature…So I need this alright….” Dudley said as he puffed slowly on the little white cancer stick. Everyone laughed and by the time they reached the gates Dudley extinguished the tell tale little butt that he claimed calmed him.

This year Dumbledore arranged a Costume Party for Halloween and an informal dance…with the band Slayer’s Cult hosting the event.  Harry, Dudley, Ron and Mark had decided to go as the Three Musketeers.  Harry being Aramis, Dudley as Athos, Ron as Porthos, and Mark as D’Artagan.  They took there time in preparing themselves then at 8:00 set off for the Great Hall. Luna was meeting up with Ron, Mark was going with another first year Gryffindore by the name of Emily Wood, whom was Oliver Wood younger sister and Dudley and Harry were going stag. Parvarti had asked Harry out of a friendly gesture but he declined as for Dudley he had a fair share of woman ask him, but he declined for reasons unknown.  The Headmaster out did himself this year. The tables were gone and round tables holding 10-12 people were along the walls the middle of the floor cleared later for dancing the head table gone as band instruments were set up on the raised area. Bats flapped and there were 12 large pumpkins that could hold at least 6 students at a time around the room. The enchanted ceiling showed a pale silver half moon and the stars sparkled brightly in the blue/black sky.

The evening was going well. They ate, they danced, they talked, they told silly jokes and it wasn’t till the end that it went out with a bang. Harry and Dudley were standing by the refreshment table telling each other funny stories when it happened. A loud BANG that shook the walls followed by thick gray smoke, Harry awoke to cries of pain and screams of terror, his scar burning fiercely and Dudley saying in a far away voice.

“Harry you ok man?” He asked peering closely at his cousin.

“No…” He said as he rubbed the scar as it seared with pain and a swooping feeling hit his stomach… feeling at once complete undeniable elation at what she had done.

“He’s happy, she did it. He didn’t think she could but she did it, He’s going to reward her, She proved herself worthy…” Harry said as an unknown voice was telling him this…

“He’s initiating her later, He’s so very pleased…” Harry whispered softly to himself. Dudley helped him to his feet.

“Come on let’s get you to Dumbledore.” Dudley said as the lights flicked back on to the now chaotic scene that was before them. People on the ground, some bloody from falling against one another or falling objects. Friends trying to awake one another, tables overturned, the band was gone and the teachers were trying to help the students that were unconscious. It was as Harry and Dudley were making their way up to the front of the hall that Dumbledore spoke in a calm clear, voice.

“Can everyone that is awake or able to move please do so at once to the sides of the room. Prefects if you can please lead your students back to your house unless bleeding or serious injured, thank you.” Albus said as the conscious students moved to the walls. With a wave of his wand 25 prone bodies rose in the air and 2 by 2 flew out of the doors, presumably to the hospital wing. Harry, Dudley, Ron, Luna and Ginny watched as Lavender, Mark and Dean, Seamus, Neville, Parvarti, Colin and Dennis Creevey were 8 of the 25 that were magiced away. The five moved quickly were Dumbledore stood talking to Snape, McGonagall and Lupin in a low voice. Snape narrowed his eyes as Harry and the others approached.

“What do you want Potter?” Snape hissed softly. Before Harry could even respond, Dudley stepped right up to Snape and said on a low strong voice.

“You address my cousin like that ever again and I will throw every curse I know at you for the rest of your life…Do I make myself understood?” The formidable teen hissed, as he got right in the potions masters face. Harry watched as if in slow motion as Snape stepped back and said in a low voice.

“Understood…” Snape said coolly with a nod of his head. In 6 years Harry thought he’d never see the day Snape would back down from anyone.

“Good, now Harry tell them what you told me.” Dudley said casually as he looked at him sideways with a smile.

“My scar was burning and I know he was happy, overjoyed. She did what he asked, He’s going to initiate her tonight, She proved her loyalty…”   Harry said focusing on the now fading feelings…thinking silently to himself “who is she”.

“She who…” Albus asked the question Harry was silently thinking. He closed his eyes. Long brown hair and pale skin in a black robe, eyes as deep, brown and bottomless as pits.

“Angel…His heir…” Harry said as if a voice told him.

“Anything else?” Remus asked calmly, brown eyes enigmatic.

“No, that’s it” Harry said as he shook his head.

“Very well, Mr. Weasley I believe you should get that cut on your head checked out before you go back to Gryffindore Tower, Thank you for you information Mr. Potter.” Albus said kindly as he nodded his head indicating for them to leave.  The five nodded and took their leave but not before Harry noticed all the Slytherin’s still milling about. He noticed Regina leaning against the wall, her face pale and translucent as a ghost, eyes closed and trembling slightly. He was over come with a feeling to help her. He stopped and was about to turn towards the girl but felt a hand on his shoulder.

“I got it. You four just go…Harry try concentrating more on the memories…Don’t meditate tonight…I’ll be back later.” Dudley said as he turned and walked briskly over to the girl and scooped her up. The other Slytherin’s too shocked by his actions to stop him as he began walking out the front doors with the girl in his arms, who was apparently unconscious.

“Harry your cousin is really starting to freak me out, First he insults them. Now he’s helping them…What’s up with that?” Ron asked as the four moved out into the corridor and began walking back towards the tower.

“I don’t know…I’m beginning to feel stupider and stupider by the hour…” Harry said as he scar tinged and stomach swooped slightly.

~*~*~Flashback~*~*~*~*

She at once felt exhausted...Hope combined with relief, yet terror and pain for what happened. What should she do? Whom could she speak too? Then an angel in the form of Harry’s aunt appeared, blond hair with red highlights, almond shaped violet eyes. She was as stately woman and when she turned and looked at her and told her to meet her she knew at once she would both love and dread what the woman would say.

Now as she walked these long halls on the way to the Headmaster’s office...she felt the need to run, not out of fear, but excitement to see him. Would his eyes still be black as night, hair blue/black like a ravens wing, skin pale and bright as the moon, lips red as blood? Was she the first person he thought of when he came back to his body? Did he want to see her...these were the thoughts that raced through her mind and before she knew it she was in front of the large stone griffin, whit a wave of her hand the stone creature moved to the side and stone steps began to rise up, she hopped on and stood still stopping seconds later in front of a large wooden door and waving her hand again. The door swung gently open and she stepped in. She had been in the headmaster’s office since she was two and even then, she could remember what it looked like it had changed little, the Phoenix was still there on the peach beside the desk. The walls still covered with pictures of the former Headmasters. The cabinet still along the wall to the left the spiral staircase across from the door, bookshelves around the room filled with books and her favorite the spindly table with the silver instruments that few knew what they did, but of course, she knew what they were used for. She remembered sitting on the floor, rolling the objects to Harry.

“Miss Granger, come in...We are just waiting for one more person then we will be set to leave.” Albus said as Misia and Minerva sat talking quietly.

“We are we going?” Hermione asked as she took the empty seat.

“A more private place, with fewer disruptions courtesy of Mr. Black.” Albus said kindly.

“So how are you doing?” Misia asked in a kind musical voice.

“Fine...” Hermione said softly.

“Now see if anyone else had said that I’d know they are lying, however I can’t tell with you. I hope you know that none of us want it like this...Life has a way of throwing so many curve balls that one never knows what to expect...I can’t imagine what your going through, but rest assured We’re here for you, Hermione, ok dear?” Misia said as she looked at the pale girl who now looked nothing like her father, man that Misia hated more then anyone.

The door opened and in walked Severus Snape, looking as surly as usual but became expressionless at the sight of the violet-eyed beauty that smiled as he entered.

“Excellent, now we can go.” Albus said cheerfully as He stood up and taped the book he was reading in front of him. The three women stood up as Severus came to stand in between, Minerva and Misia.

“Ok...3...2...1...” Albus said then with a jerk they lifted away.

Seconds later they landed with a thud in a brightly lit room filled with about 25 other people. Hermione looked around the cavernous kitchen with the dirty counters and appliances and long wooden table with chairs about the room.  A chalkboard set up by the stove. Hermione looked at the others. Charlie and Bill were standing by their father and mother. Remus, Sirius and another man in dirty robes, smoking a grimy pipe, with ginger hair were sitting and talking to one another. The rest of the people were quiet unknown to her by appearance but the names were already in her mind as she looked at each one. Lastly, she saw them, standing next too Misia and Minerva both looked up and smiled and she gladly walked over to them. Both her Mum and Dad embraced her lovingly she felt so pleased to see them.

“I thought I told you not to come here…” Hermione sighed as she let go of her parents and took a seat in between.

“Mione, even though you’re this great and powerful witch, that doesn’t give you the right to dictate orders to us sweetie.” Alex said in his usual gentle yet firm voice.

“And we need to know what Albus needs us to do…and Misia as well…” Adrianne said kindly as she placed her hand on her daughter’s shoulder.

“We need to stay hidden for now. You two are safe enough, that bunghole Fudge didn’t believe Harry or Albus when they told him Riddle returned. As for me, this is not a good time for me to be telling Harry, I’ve been under a memory charm for the past 13 years. This year’s gonna suck for him.” Misia said sigh as she cast a quick glance as the people began to settle into chairs around the room and looked at the man by the chalkboard.

“Thank you everyone for coming so quickly…There are a few new people here tonight and hopefully a few more soon to come. Now this is how it stands…As of 4 hours ago the Dark Lord Voldemort has thus since returned to his body. His goals are as follows, to find out the Prophecy and hear it in it entirety, to recruit more followers, to wipe out all muggleborns and lastly to find his heir’s and use them in his plan to take over the wizarding world as well. Three of which we believe he already has.” Albus said quickly to the room at large.

“Only one…The other two are safe and well hidden.”  Severus said quickly as he cast a quick glance at Misia before looking away.

“You found them, oh my god thank you…” Misia said as she jumped up and practically flew into Severus’s lap and planted his pasty face with kisses, which turned a shade of scarlet that would make the Weasley hair pale in comparison. A few people snickered at the sight and Sirius in too loud voice.

“Ok you two enough, There are unspoiled eyes in this room.” Sirius said with a grin.

“This coming from the man nicknamed “The Devirginator” while he was in school.” Misia said sarcastically as she winked.

That man no longer exist and Hermione does not need to be seeing this and may I ask why she is here…No offence Mione…” Sirius said as he looked at his Godson’s best friend. Before Hermione could respond, Albus spoke calmly.

“As a Celestial…Her help in the matters at hand are very important though unneeded as can just as easily transcend into this room…And as Harry’s best friend she will need to be able to ensure his and Ron’s safety. So she of course is always welcome here, in body or in spirit…As she is still an under aged witch the people beside her are her parents, Alex and Adrianne as they need to be informed in what she is doing as well.” Albus said lightly, bright blue calm as he smiled kindly at the family. Who, at once were both thankful for not telling this group the full reason as to why they were here.

“Not surprising really…I always thought there was something special about you Hermione.” Remus said appraisingly with a smile.

“So for obvious reasons Mr. and Mrs. Granger will need a continual guard. Harry will need one as well as will The Department of Mysteries as I believe that will be one of the place Voldemort will need to go for information. Severus can provide us with a list of the Death Eaters that have returned to serve Voldemort and keep an eye out for them. Then we need to enlist as many new members as well. Misia you need to return home as needed, When you come here come as you are, and I believe Lloyd has your book, Dudley and Mark have been reading it unbeknownst as to who’s it is and Dudley is on his way to Hogwarts as we speak. We will meet him in Hogsmeade station in the morning. I suggest warding the house to allow him to practice magic, as I don’t believe Knockturn Alley is the best place for him to be practicing. However, allow him to go there for the supplies he and Mark need for their experiments. I believe that is it. So here are your assignments…Meeting adjourned.” Albus said as he waved his wand and everyone received pieces of parchment and what they need to do. Hermione and her parents stood, as did everyone else. Most of the members keep sneaking glances at the family.

“Ok well I guess I’ll see in a week.” Hermione said as she hugged her mum and dad as they both held her tightly.

“Ok, owl us if you need anything alright sweetheart.” Alex said as he kissed her on top of her head.

“I will, I love you…” she said in a tear filled voice.

“We love you too, baby…” Anne said as wiped the tears from her daughters’ eyes.

“We’ll see you soon, be good. Stay out of trouble.” Alex said as he hugged her again.

They looked at her one last time before Misia came over and put her arms on each of their shoulders.

“Be right back…stay here, there’s something I need to talk to you about.” Misia said with a smile before with a crack the three adults’ disapperated. Hermione sat down heavily in the chair and covered her eyes with her hands.

“So a Celestial…pretty cool…eh…” Sirius said as she heard the seat next to her groan. She lifted her hand and glanced at him sideways threw a cloud of chestnut curls.

“Ya, great, wonderful, and once… Riddle finds out It’ll be even all the better, Get to hide my parents and pray he doesn’t find them. Watch my friends being tortured Because of what I am. Have people constantly watching me. Do loads upon loads of work to save everyone and anyone around me…Never have a normal life?  I hate this…I’d give it up in a heart beat if I could.” Hermione said dejected voice filled with pain.

“Well if you choose to see this as a curse then it will be and ultimately we will pay for it, but if you choose to see it as a gift, then there will be hope. With great power comes great responsibility. You’ve seen what Harry’s gone through. Yet he’s relatively ok with it. Don’t believe you’re alone, were all here for you Mione…alright sweetie.” Misia said as she took a seat next to the girl.

“Thank you Misia…I really appreciate all your help.” Mione said with a smile.

“Of course, now tomorrow meet me in the western gardens realm 5 at 9:00. We’ll figure out what needs to be done. See what they want us to do.” Misia said as she squeezed the girls shoulder gently.

“Ok, Misia see you then” Hermione said quickly. She hugged the woman briefly as she stood and watched as she slowly glimmered away.

She thought back to that day as she sat there and looked at the ugly mark on her arm. She at once never felt more alone in her entire life… She hated what she did, but knew at once all would be ok in the end.

Linkin' Park - In The End

      It starts with

      one thing/I don't know why

It doesn't even matter how hard you try

keep that in mind/I designed this rhyme

      to explain in due time

      All I know

      Time is a valuable thing

Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings

Watch it count down to the end of the day

      The clock ticks life away

      Its so unreal

      Didn't look out below

Watch the time go right out the window

Trying to hold on/But didn't even know

      Wasted it all just to

      Watch it go

I kept everything inside and even though I tried/It all fell apart

What it meant to me will eventually/be a memory/of a time when

      I tried so hard

      And got so far

      But in the end

      It doesn't even matter

      I had to fall

      And lose it all

      But in the end

      It doesn't even matter

      One thing/I don't know why

Doesn't even matter how hard you try

Keep that in mind/I designed this rhyme

      To remind myself How

      I tried so hard

Actin like I was a part of ur property

Remembering all the times you fought w/ me/I'm surprised

      It got so (far)

Things aren't the way they were before

You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore

Not that you knew me back then

But it all comes back to me

      In the end

You kept everything inside and even though I tried/it all fell apart

      What it meant to me/will eventually/be a memory/of a time when I

      Tried so hard

      And got so far

      But in the end

      It doesn't even matter

      I had to fall

      And lose it all

      But in the end

      It doesn't even matter

      Repeat 2x:

I put my trust in you

Pushed as far as I can go

      For all this

There’s only one thing u should know

      I tried so hard

      And got so far

      But in the end

      It doesn't even matter

      I had to fall

      And lose it all
