Prophecies 3: Birthday surprises
They landed with a thud, but managed to stay upright, because they were holding onto one another’s shoulders. They were in the courtyard in the back of the Leaky Cauldron. Everyone watched Mad-Eye tapped the third brick from the left and a small hole began to grow larger, till finally there archway was wide and tall enough to let them pass three at a time.
“Who needs to go to Gringott’s?” Mad-Eye grunted evenly.
“I do…” said Harry, Hermione and Dudley at the same time.
“Ok…we’ll meet you three back at
the Fortuna’s in ½ an hour…” Remus said as he looked at Tonks and Dung
pointedly. Ron, Mark and Holly followed Tonks in the lead Dung behind the
group. Harry and the others where guarded the same way, but Harry had a feeling
that Remus and Mad-Eye were not alone. Harry took the check out of his pocket
and
“What’s wrong?”
“Look how much they gave me?”
Harry said astonishment.
“Don’t worry it’s not wrong…Keep
walking…”
“Did you get the same?” Harry asked looking at him before looking at the check.
“Ya, but they won’t take it
back…they said it was 16 years worth of Birthday and Holiday gifts…They said if
I don’t take it then I’ll be getting a car for Christmas.”
“Did they give you a lot?” Hermione asked joining the conversation.
“Ya, look.” Harry said as he showed her the check.
“Wow, My advice would be to invest it, Remus didn’t you say you knew a little about the Wizarding Stock Exchange?” Hermione asked.
“Ya, I use to dabble a bit.” Remus said as he opened the door to the tall white building and the three teens entered followed by Mad-Eye.
“Can you recommend some good stocks?” Hermione asked walking beside him in brisk voice.
“Long or short term?” Remus asked as they got to the front desk.
“80% long, 20% short, therefore loss will be minimal…Is that something you two would be interested in…My parents have been doing my investing for year…My trust is somewhere in the 800’s.” Hermione said as she looked at Dudley and Harry.
“$800 lbs?”
“$800,000 lbs…Had I not been a witch I’d be in Harvard…My Aunts a broker…” Hermione said with a grin as she stepped up to the counter and spoke quickly to the Goblin behind the desk, handed him a key, Then he called another and he came over to her. They walked quickly threw one of the doors.
“Damn Harry, you really know how
to pick um!”
Twenty minutes later the four men were back in the lobby. The goblin that had taken Hermione was back as well.
“Excuse me but where’s the young woman you took to her vault?” Remus asked quickly.
“She said she forgot something, asked me to give this to Mr. Potter.” Stepnoid said as he walked up to Harry and handed him a plan brown package. Before Remus or Mad-Eye could grab it he ripped it open and opened the small box. Inside was a silver pendent of two intertwining snakes wrapped around a large oval emerald. Underneath the pendant was a note he unfolded it and read quickly.
My
dearest Harry,
Wear this pendent at all times. It is charmed to deflect all unforgivable curses…I love you.
Love Always,
Hermione
It was then that they heard and felt the noise…As if in slow motion he ran, as fast as he could. That day would stand in his memories for the rest of his life…

Three days later…
“Are you ready?” Ron asked in a calm voice. Harry looked over at him. His red hair hung limply to his angular face, his blue eyes, filled with pain, rimmed red and blood shot, his thin lips pressed together tightly, dry and cracked. He nodded before they stepped forward. He looked at the faces in the crowd they were blurred in and out…one not looking any different from any other. He took out his wand and mutter “Sonorous” then be spoke.
“Good morning everyone thank you
for coming…I like to tell a story. It begins like any other…Once upon time
there was a witch named Hermione…She was about this high…” Harry said as he
held his hand to the middle of his chest. “With long bushy brown hair, large
front teeth and I did not like her upon first meeting her. She was bossy
know-it-all, who like to get into other’s people business, and was too smart
for her own good. Then by stroke of luck or great misfortune I made a terrible
mistake where Hermione was concerned….Which almost resulted in her early
demise. I accidentally locked her in a bathroom with a fully-grown mountain
troll. For the next 5 years, I would do this to her over and over, first the
troll, then almost get her poisoned, then petrified, followed by attacks by
Dementor’s and Werewolves, Lead her into a Dark Forest filled with horrible
creatures on at least 3 occasions, break into the Ministry of Magic and have
her attacked by Deatheaters and finally…” Harry said as he broke off and let
the tears fall down his pale cheeks before saying. “Finally take her to Diagon
Alley and watch as Voldemort killed her…and I did nothing to stop him…I stood
there and watched as he took his wand out point it at her heart and hiss the
two words I fear more then anything. In 5 years, I don’t think I ever properly
thanked her for all the help she gave me. For all the time she spent helping me
with spells, or homework, constantly badgering me to do well, tell me what a
great person I was…even confessing her love to me…Which I will never be able to
return. Hermione was a symbol of all that was good. All that was right…all that
was brave…all that was perfection. When I think of perfect…I think of her…a
woman who will be loved by me for eternity. Sixteen years ago I lost my parents
to that monster, over a year ago I lost a very fine and respectable friend to
him, two months ago I lost my godfather because of him, and three days ago I
lost the woman I love. From here on out…I swear with my dying breath, that I
will put an end to his reign of terror because no one should ever lose a parent, friend or
loved one to him ever again…because that is what Hermione would have wanted me
to do…” Harry finished solemnly as tears fell down his cheeks. He bowed his
head and walked away…
Nickelback - Someday
How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why
weren’t we able?
To see the signs that we missed
try to turn the
tables.
I wish you would unclench your fists,
And unpack your suitcase
lately there’s
been to much of this
but don’t think
its too late

you’re the only

I know you’re wondering when
well I’d hope
that since we’re here anyway
we can end up
saying
things that we
always needed to say
so we can end up
staying
now the stories
played out like this
just like a

lets re-write an
ending that fits
