VI. Social, Ethical, Legal, and Human Issues

VI-B. Apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.

Evidences:
Example of weekly list for updating class webpage.

Example of educational blogsite
(I created this site in Dr. Houghton's Computers in Education class at WCU)

Reflection:
I chose to focus on the above documents as ways to empower diverse learners because I feel that by providing all children with an important, united role in the classroom, they began to work as one cohesive unit instead of several, smaller units.  By encouraging students to update the class webpage, they understand that each student must work equally hard to ensure that the webpage is a great resource.  Each week I will choose different children for each role, consequently
each child will have a chance to serve in every role.  I also like to include a blog for children to share their personal views and opinions because this is a very different kind of writing and thinkin than simply updating a webpage.    I believe it is so important to encourage children of all abiliites and backgrounds to participate in one joint project because it creates a strong sense of teamwork and belonging.  Technology, especially computers, lends itself wonderfully to teaching diverse learners, as it is easy to modify requirements and assignments.
