V. Productivity and Professional Practice
V-A. Use technology resources to engage
in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
Evidences:
During the spring of 2006, I took a Computers in Technology class at WCU.
In March of 2006, I attended a workshop on the use of Promethean Active Boards.
Reflection:
Technology is quickly becoming an
important fixture in the elementary classroom. Not only can we
use technology to assist in the teaching of other subjects, we must
also teach the care and proper use of each technology. In order
to keep up with the new gadgets and programs being released each year,
teachers must continually attend workshops, take classes, or even
simply research new products. Many workshops will serve a dual
purpose as they will not only introduce us to new technologies, but
also count as CEUs. Many new resources are also amazing helps in
the classroom; Active Boards are one example. My cooperating
teacher learned that an Active Board would soon be installed in her
room, so we both attended the introductory workshop. It would
have been impossible to fully utilize the board without this one day
class. Most school systems offer many classes similar to this
one; we must take advantage of as many learning opportunities as
possible!
