| Yes, you have probably already seen my Avril page, this is just a more detailed explanation of exactly why i dislike her so much. Now don't think i'm copying other people by the way i set this out, it's just efficient, and understandable: Avril the Musician Avril Lavigne states that she has been playing the guitar since she was 12. I find this extremely unlikely as she seems to only be able to play 2 chords (see broken-stars.org/complicated for the relevant picture evidence) She also never (or almost never) plays her guitar live, and when she does, it's not switched on. The only time she plays it is in her videos (or, rather, one of her videos), and she plays a chord that doesn't even appear in the song. This wouldn't piss me off so much, if she didn't go on about how 'rawkin' she is, and how she said "most girls wish they could jam on the guitar like me, but they can't" Her live singing is also completely pants. She should make up her mind, she first says that "i sit down with my guitar" and then "i usually sit with a guitar player" when she writes her songs which moves us swiftly onto Avril the Songwriter Avril is adamant that she not only writes all her own songs, but that they are "guitar driven rock". Both of these points are just poo. In her recent 'Making the Video' show, she says "i wrote all the songs on my album...well, co-wrote them". Why, Avril, if you were so talented at song writing, and, as you say "my talent is expressing these feelings as songs" then why oh why would you need to have someone there to help you write your songs? Is is because you're crap? Bacause you're FAKE?? I think so. Also, have you even listened to Let Go. The closest she comes to "guitar driven rock" is Losing Grip, which is probably the only half-ok song there. Avril the Punk Ok, fair enough, there are loads of artists out there making crappy 'music' and getting a load of publicity for it, so why does Avril piss me off so much? It's her attitude that gets on my nerves; she desperately wants to label herself, so much so that she loses all credibility. She won't accept that there are very few people in this world who, as themselves, are cut and dried stereotypes. I, for example, enjoy listening to various genres of music, for example punk, ska, jazz and bluegrass. Most people don't see anything wrong with liking these 'less respectable' genres, yet avril is quite adamant that she is punk and only punk. When it comes to clothes, mixing fitted jeans with a vest may look distinctly Britney, but who honestly gives a fuck? I found it pretty damn gut-splitting when someone i know (who shall remain nameless) told me i was 'trendy' for wearing brown cords. Now, this on it's own is not funny, but it's the fact that the girl who said it to me loves S Club 8, Justin Timberlake, and *dum dum duuuum* Avril 'punk princess' herself. It just goes to show the obsession with image that Avril is putting to the younger generation. It's quite sad, really. I should stop this rant before it goes out of hand (oops, too late) Avril pisses me off, but i am learing to ignore her...i'm above this if anyone wants to flame me, go ahead but if you're going to say i'm jealous, then maybe i am but not of her so called talent the only jealousy is that she got recognition for being a puppet, and a shite one at that where i'm just like her manufactured image but real and better |
