When Autumn Comes Around

Summer fades away like a dream
The leaves change colors and fall to the ground
The air seems crisp
When Autumn comes around

Winds grow cooler
The sun grows dim
Trees stand naked
When Autumn comes around

Festivities are everywhere
Pumpkins are lit
Shadows lurk around the corners
When Autumn comes around

Treats and tricks
Turkeys are roasted
Families gather
When Autumn comes around

Children grow excited
For Old St. Nick
The year is almost over
When Autumn comes to an end

Winter comes and goes
Spring and Summer slides through
But my favorite season is not far behind
When Autumn comes around
Thirteen Spooks, Maybe More

I tread slowly down the dark wooded path
Fog and darkness surrounds me
I push through the wind that bites and pulls
And yet I walk on to a place I do not know

Upon the hill, I see the lights
Lights that look down at me
I shiver with fright as I walk on by
Passing along this gloomy road
I reach an iron gate
Gargoyles watch as I walk by
With doom in their red eyes

Enter in the rusted entrance
I see upon the grassy hill
A house that hides an eerie past
Slowly I walk and I reach the front door
I hesitate with fear
I knock once but no one answers
Although the door creaks open wide

Caution guides me in, still not knowing why
I speak softly and wait for a reply
The house is empty or maybe not
Then I catch the sight
Clouds of smoke begin to rise
With laughter and unearthly cries

Spooks and spirits fill the room
I race back to the door
It bolts and I can not escape
The fate of just one more!
