Welcome mortals to the crypt of MissDrac. I am your hostess and I would like to share a few things about some of my close friends. I hope that you will enjoy yourslef and that you can stay here forever.
I am very fond of the classic monsters. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Frankenstein's Bride, The WolfMan, Phantom of the Opera and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Thses are the classics who started it all. All the horror films that we love today can stand up and thank those monsters that paved the way. But behind the make-up and masks are the actors who placed themsleves in these roles and they are who I would like to give a tribute to.
In the beginning of silent movies, Lon Chaney (known as a man of a thousand faces) became the first horror superstar. Creating all his own make-up from scratch, Chaney played in films like The Hunchback of Nortre Dome and Phantom of the Opera. His son; Lon Chaney Jr. created his own monster in the family business after his father died.
In the 1930's movies were now starting to talk so Universal Pictures needed a voice that would scare the new generation of horror fans. The Hungarian actor, Bela Lugosi got the role that would make him the king of vampires. After playing Dracula at plays and on the big screen, Lugosi played other vampires and took his cape and fangs to his grave.
After the success of Dracula, Universal searched for another monster. When Bela Lugosi turned down the role for the next movie Frankenstein, the director James Whales found Boris Karloff who will be remembered as the Monster.
