AP English Eleven

Advanced Placement English is challenging. Students are expected to be self motivated, serious, and competent. By definition, advanced means above average, accelerated speed, deeper depth, wider breadth. A serious commitment to excellence, time management, and pride in one's work is essential to success in this course and in life.

The Advanced Placement Program Course Description for English published by The College Board states

The AP Language and Composition Course assumes that students already understand and use Standard English grammar. The intense concentration on language use in this course should enhance their ability to use grammatical conventions both appropriately and with sophistication as well as to develop stylistic maturity in their prose....When students read, they should become aware of how stylistic effects are achieved by writer's linguistic choices.

Therefore we will concentrate on refining and extending your current skills. This includes improved speech communication, technological know-how, etc.
