WHAT'S MY NAME?:

Janice Lynn McGrath (maiden name is Haskamp)

WHEN WAS I BORN?:

March 10, 1977 (that makes me a Pisces!)

WHERE AM I FROM?:

Cincinnati, OH (born and raised!)

WHAT AM I DOING?:

I graduated from Bowling Green State University (Ohio!) in December, 2000, where I received my BS in Child and Family Development. That makes me an alumni! In the last 6 years, I have worked for Headstart (2 1/2 years), and for the Goddard School (3 1/2 years). I am now working as an assistanat director and lead teacher for a new center, Total Quality Childcare Center, less than a mile from my house!

MY SINGING PAST:

I attended and graduated in 1995 from Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati. I was involved in the music department, including the elite choir, Encore, my junior and senior years. I participated in the Ohio Solo and Ensemble Contest sophomore, junior, and senior year where I received several top honors, including two "1" ratings (the highest) on "A class" solo pieces. My senior year, I auditioned for and was accepted into the Mayfestival Youth Chorus, which is city-wide. We peformed with the Mayfestival Chorus (adult), the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops (under the direction of the wonderful Erich Kunzel!). In college, I was a Mezzo Soprano member of the BGSU Women's Chorus from January 1997 through May 2000 and I was an Alto in the University Choral Society from January 2000 through May 2000.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

As you can probably guess, I am a huge Phantom of the Opera fan. I have loved it since I was in the 8th grade when my English teacher introduced it to me. I have seen the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber four times now, but I plan to see it many more times before I die! I know the libretto by heart and can sing MOST of Christine's roles (I'm only a MEZZO soprano, remember!) I also discovered a TERRIFIC book back in the 9th grade by Susan Kay entitled, "Phantom" and I have read it 3 times now! If you are a die-hard Phantom Phan like me, it's a must-read...but that is all I am going to say! You will just have to read it and find out for yourself how good it really is!

When I am not at work, I spend my time with my husband, Rocky, hanging out with friends, listening to music, running, hiking, doing whatever I find fun at the moment, and working on this webpage, on which I am trying to update whenever I can.

Friends!!!
This has to be my all-time favorite show... even though it's over and all I see now are reruns :)

Hell's Kitchen
I know it's only on for the summer, but I absolutely LOVE Chef Ramsey!

Joey!
Maybe because I'm such a Friends fanatic, I just have to watch this show! It's actually pretty good, too! I laugh every episode! But thank God for my DVR because it's on at the same time as Survivor (whenever there's a season of Survivor going on). So I record one and watch the other...then watch the recorded one later...No VCR required!:) Ah, I love technology!

FAVORITE MUSIC::

Nearly any music from the 80s

Nearly anything alternative/grunge... you know... early-1990's,TRUE "alternative" (ie: Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc)

Classical music (especially Bach, Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, and Tchaichovsky)

Bjork

Evanescense

Godsmack

Green Day
I saw them in concert in October 2004...it was AWESOME! It's even more awesome that a band I've liked since my high school years is still around :)

The Offspring
Yet another band from my teen years that's still around! I saw them in May off 2004 at Jammin' on Main here in Cincinnati. TOTALLY awesome!

Alanis Morissette

Pink Floyd
This site is an analysis of "The Wall", my favorite Floyd album. And those who know me know I just LOVE to analyze everything!

Selena

... To sum things up, I pretty much like anything and everything, though I'm not much for rap and I'm pretty new to the country scene.

And that's just a LITTLE BIT about me! If I keep going, you'll be here all day!
