��� In 1957, the first "Miss Confederate" Pageant took place during the Jefferson Davis Birthday Celebration at the Jefferson Davis State Historic Site in Fairview, Kentucky.� It was estimated that fifty contestants competed for the title of "Miss Confederate 1957."� The contestants were required to wear original Civil War Era dresses. ��� The name changed to the "Miss Confederacy" Pageant in the early 1980's.� In 1996, three more titles were added to the event, including the "Wee", "Little" and "Junior" titles. In 2008, the "Ms." category was added for those ladies not qualifying for the Miss category. There is not an age limit for this category. ��� The competition is open to girls and ladies ages 2 and up.� The contestants are expected to wear reproduction clothing based on the Civil War Era.� Judging is based on costume, overall appearance, and judges' interviews for the older girls. |
