Kai’s Birthday: Chapter 15
Boris Balkov was wondering, if this
would work – it was… unconventional to say the least. But than, everything what
involved Alexei Balkov was unconventional.
Alexei was a difficult child, or at least so thought his father. When he was a
baby he cried during the night, which was supposedly normal – but surely not
that much? Then, when he got older he would ask questions, lots of questions.
Fortunately, at that time Mr. Hiwatari decided he wanted to take over the world
and Balkov was forced to spend almost all his time at the Abby. Which was very
happy coincidence, when thinking of what he saw, when he came back.
The whole living room was painted black and in
the middle hung a blond girl over a cage full of monkeys. Her legs were tied to
the lamp and she was smoking a cigarette. An ash-trey stood a few centimetres
from the cage. Alexei was sitting on the sofa opposite to the girl. He was
dressed all in black and had his hair in a ponytail. The younger Balkov seemed
completely unfazed by his father’s sudden entrance. He gave him a bored look,
ate a chocolate and said:
-
Oh,
hi. Did they fire you?
Boris Balkov needed all his psychical
strength, to refrain himself from throwing something heavy at the brat.
-
Sasha,
who’s that? – asked the girl, not bothering to take the cigarette out from her
mouth.
-
That?
– Alexei still sounded bored. – My so-called father.
-
What
the hell is going on? – Balkov finally regained his voice. Unfortunately, this
didn’t bother his son at the least.
-
My
arts project. – he mumbled back. – Nasta, stop wriggling, I’m almost ready.
The former Biovolt scientist decided it was
time to retreat to the kitchen and drink something. A full hour later ‘Nasta’
went out. Alexei went into the kitchen – bored as before.
-
So,
did they fire you? – he asked, giving the older man a disdainful glance.
-
Yes.
– hissed Balkov. He wasn’t used to such behaviour at all.
-
How
unfortunate. – answered his son sarcastically. – That plan of yours was
moronic, by the way.
-
I
presume, you could think of a better one? – snorted the scientist.
-
Sure.
I could even take revenge for you… If you update my computer and hi-fi set.
-
What?!
-
Just
do it. – Alexei walked out of the kitchen and went to his room. A few minutes
later he went out, carrying a bag. He grabbed a black leather coat.
-
See
ya! – was the last thing Balkov heard from his son. The boy didn’t give a sign
of life for the last few days. And to be frank Boris Balkov had no idea, what
the brat was doing.
Kai Hiwatari had woken up at five o’clock – nothing special for him. He
was an early morning person. The next thing he did was more unlike him – he
ordered his breakfast to bed. The maid brought the tray with food along with
some papers very quickly. The tattooed boy started looking threw the documents
and eating his food. The first report was about Yuri and the ‘improvements’
Balkov made. Maybe it was fascinating for someone with biological know-how, but
for Kai it was complete non-sense. He moved on the next one. It was concerning another experiment, but this
time it wasn’t connected with biology. Pure psychology, if one could call that
the abuse the children in this experiment went through. And it seemed the
outcome was Boris…
Kai shook his head and decided it high time to
get up. He definitely didn’t like what he just read.
Sergey sighed. It seemed that it was one of
those days when Yuri needed waking up. He opened the door of his captains room
and was welcomed with the idyllic sight of the redhead sleeping peacefully,
while the alarm clock lay a few meters away – destroyed, apparently after a
close meeting with the wall. The red-haired Russian turned and mumbled
something. Then he opened his eyes and sat up. He looked around sleepily.
-
What
time is it? – he yawned.
-
High
time you got up. – answered the blond.
-
Uh…
huh. Ivan ‘n’ Boris are up? – Yuri mumbled sleepily.
-
Ivan
yes, but I haven’t seen Boris.
-
Get
‘im up… - the redhead yawned once more.
The child didn’t know were it was – but it
definitely knew, it wasn’t supposed to be here. This place looked nicer though…
Suddenly somebody opened the door. The child
ducked under the quilt quickly.
-
Boris?
– a low, gruff voice asked. – Where are you?
The child didn’t move – it didn’t recognise
the voice.
-
This
isn’t funny! – growled the same voice. – Get out, because if I find you, before
you do, I’ll beat… What’s that?
Somebody lifted the quilt. It was a big blond
teenager with a flat nose. He gaped at the child dumbstruck.
-
Okay.
– he sighed. – Whatever they gave me, I don’t want it anymore.
He covered the child and counted to three.
Than he lifted the quilt again.
-
It
isn’t gone… - he said unbelievingly. – YURI! IVAN!
A few minutes later a redhead came in. He
looked slightly annoyed.
-
What
is… - he looked at the bed. – Oh.
And than he just stared. Meanwhile, a maid and
a small boy with a long nose came in. They both also stared at the bed.
-
Am
I hallucinating? – asked Ivan.
-
If
you see a kid in Boris’ T-shirt, than you’re having the same hallucinations as
I do. – answered Sergey.
-
This
is just a stupid dream, right? – Yuri muttered.
-
It
looks very much like Boris. – chimed in a cold voice. The three Demolition Boys
looked at Kai. The tattooed Japanese continued coolly. – Violet hair, violet
eyes, looks like he’d taken a bath in bleach, similar face…
-
What’s
your name? – asked Sergey, but the boy just looked at him fearfully.
-
Oh
bother! – snorted Yuri. – Just what we needed. Maybe we’ll leave him alone
until he decides to speak?
The child grabbed Sergey’s hand,
who looked at it surprised.
-
Don’t
leave ma alone. – it whispered. – I’ll be good.
The other beyblade teams gathered
at the spot on time – even Takao somehow managed to wake up before it was too
late. They all were quite surprised to see, that one Demolition Boy was missing.
And when they found out that the said Russian seemed to have changed into a
six-year-old, who almost constantly hid behind Sergey’s leg, they were plainly
shocked.
-
I
like him better now. – concluded Rei.
At that moment came the said Sorata, fallowed
by five persons – two women and three men. Sorata didn’t look like a monk at
all. He seemed to be something akin to an older version of Takao – although
without long hair. The first woman was a black-haired beauty, who behaved very
calm. The second one had black hair and bright green eyes. She was exuberant
and kept talking to a golden-eyed, longhaired man. The two other men kept
together. The taller one wore sunglasses and a black coat. The shorter one was
very similar to the green-eyed girl. Last was Miaka, dressed in dark pink
dungarees and a white blouse with short sleeves.
-
How
many kids were supposed to be here, Arashi? – Sorata asked the black-haired
beauty.
-
Twenty-five.
– the woman answered unfazed.
-
Seems
one is missing.
-
He’s
hiding behind me. – said Sergey and lifted Boris up.
