Dad! You’re
Embarrassing Me!

Otogi Ryuji and Honda Hiroto were escorting
Kawai Shizuka to the black-haired youth’s game shop. It was quiet usual to see
those three hanging out together and many people assumed they were really good
friends – or even dating! They couldn’t have been more wrong. It was true that
both adolescents found the girl attractive, but they couldn’t stand each other.
However, since the girl wanted to see Ryuji’s shop, they would go both – if
Otogi went alone he might get the upper hand after all – same for Hiroto.
“And I won’t tell you again to keep your paws
off her, Otogi!” the brown-haired youth growled, clenching his fists.
“That’s great!” the green-eyed teen answered,
while flipping his fringe up and smirking. “I don’t have paws so I can’t keep
them on her, can I?”
“Please stop quarreling!” the girl chimed up.
“We’re not quarreling, Shizuka-chan!” both
young men answered promptly.
They almost didn’t notice that they were
already there. They stopped a bit away from the entrance and Ryuji put his hand
on Shizuka’s shoulder. Hiroto immediately growled and prepared to start another
fight, when the raven-haired youth paled and opened his eyes wider.
“Uh… oh!” was all he managed to say, as a
small fat man in mask of a clown came up to the three teenagers. Both Shizuka
and her brother’s friend gave the man looks of curiosity mixed with slight
fear.
“Ryuji!” The man happily exclaimed, oblivious to
the effect he produced. “I’m so happy to see you, my boy!”
“Hello Dad.” The green-eyed teen answered
weakly, as his chicks went red with embarrassment. The taller adolescent
sniggered silently, while the ginger-haired girl blinked confusedly trying to understand
what she just heard. That fat man-like strange creature was supposed to be
Ryuji’s father? The young game inventor must have inherited his looks from his
mother.
Meanwhile, the clown-wannabe parent noticed
his son’s hand resting on the girl’s shoulder.
“You have a girl friend? Why don’t you
introduce her to me?”
“I… Er… That’s… I mean…” the black-haired teen
grew even redder and suddenly started wishing that he were an orphan. Parents
could have such embarrassing sometimes – and now Shizuka would undoubtedly be
mad at him, too.
He didn’t know how wrong he was – the girl
noticed his uneasiness and being the good-natured helpful creature, she was,
she answered politely with a gentle smile:
“I’m Kawai Shizuka, sir. Pleased to meet you.”
bowing afterwards.
Ryuji felt relief wash over him and the
tension leave, while Hiroto noticed with some unease that the girl didn’t deny
being Otogi’s girl-friend.
“Oh! I have some really fantastic photos of
him as a child. I’m sure, you’d love to see them.” the man happily continued.
Ryuji’s head dropped, as he imagined what horrors might be hidden in his
father’s wallet – a snap-shot of him covered in food, maybe? Or something even
worse?
“I’m sure Shizuka-chan would love to see
them!” Hiroto said with a sly grin. The man immediately took out his wallet and
slipped out a photo from it. He gave to the girl, while Ryuji closed his eyes
hoping it all was just a bad dream.
“Oh my, Otogi-kun! You were such a cute
child!” Shizuka cooed as she looked at a photo of her friend. The boy had a
pony-tail back then, but he was wearing a big yellow fluffy pullover and jeans
shorts. He was holding an ice-cream, his face smeared with the treat and
grinning brightly. The black-haired youth opened one eye to peek at the photo
and immediately closed it with a groan.
Meanwhile his father took out another photo
and handed it to the girl. This time it was a picture of Ryuji as a baby, taken
while it was trying to eat its hat. Hiroto covered his mouth with one hand to
muffle the laughter at seeing it. Shizuka stated that ‘Otogi-kun’ was a really
cut baby, while the youth in question started silently praying for something
drastic to happen and distract those two from the photos.
Unfortunately, Nature didn’t want to grant the
desperate adolescents wish and stayed calm. No villain threatening to take over
the world appeared – only a certain clown-like parent took out yet another
photo. It featured a five-years-old Otogi sitting on a colourful carpet and staring confusedly at a pair of
dice. Easily to predict Honda snickered and Shizuka cooed.
Finally, Ryuji’s father looked at his watch.
“I have to go. Bring the girl home someday, my
boy.” he said and went away. The black-haired teen exhaled silently, foolishly
assuming his trouble was over.
“You were such a cute little fellow.” Hiroto said in an over-sweated tone. “Not to
mention your father is a real joker.”
he added. “Where did he get that outfit?”
“Ha. Ha.” growled the green-eyed teenager.
“Brilliant joke. I’m laughing my ass off.”
“Did I hurt you?” the brown-haired teen said
sarcastically. “I’m so sorry.”
“Honda! Don’t be mean to Ryuji!” Shizuka
chimed up. “It’s not his fault his father is… er… original!” she continued and
finally hugged the raven-haired teen. “Can we go and see your shop now?” she
asked with one of those cute pleading expression girls of her kind could make
people do whatever they wanted.
“Sure.” the green-eyed youth’s good mood was
restored as he wrapped his arm around Shizuka’s shoulders and flashed a triumphal
grin at a fuming Hiroto.

A/N
Otogi’s daddy-dearest is taken from the manga…
Well, he is probably OOC – but he did look like a clown there.
Anyway, I’m quite surprised I wrote that – I
still don’t know if I like Honda/Shizuka or Otogi/Shizuka more and the
love-triangle idea doesn’t appeal to me. Seems Otogi’s winning for now.
