Okay, as promised in my previous post, I will indulge you on my latest obsession. First and foremost, I would like to say that for the longest time I heard references to Battlestar Galactica to which I would respond with a shrug. I simply was not interested. Why? Hmmm good question. To be honest, I had a biased opinion of what it would be like.

1. I was not familiar with it and the title sounded tacky.

2. I did not want to stray away from my beloved TNG.

3. As much as I love scifi, I was afraid of a genre overload.

So anyway, people kept bringing up and I finally decided (reluctantly) to rent the first DVDs. I will confess here that my goal was to prove people wrong. What could be so great about Battlestar Galactica? Pfffft.

The first disk (miniseries) left me on the fence. Wasn't sure I liked it. But then I watched the following episodes on the second disk and I was shamelessly hooked. No seriously, this show will surprise the heck out of you if you haven't yet taken a peek at it.

I would not classify it as classic scifi. Instead it's more of a drama focused on the characters and their humanity. BSG has no cliches. Lines between good and evil are blurred as there are no clear cut villains (Yes, at first you might think of the Cylons as villains but as the story develops that pretty much goes out the window).

And the icing on top of the cake is the dynamics between Commander William Adama and President Laura Roslin. *sigh*. Okay those two are being handled in a way that us P/C fans would have killed for when TNG aired. Their relationship is subtle but oh so powerful. Plus I won't even go into the caliber of their talent as actors (Both are Academy Award nominees).

Anyway, take my word for it from a loyal P/C fan of over 15 years, seeing A/R on screen together is totally and utterly worth the time. If I've peeked your curiosity and you don't mind spoilers, then go ahead and click or copy/paste the link below. It's a 7 minute clip about Roslin and Adama's journey so far.

BSG will start airing the last remaining 10 or 12 episodes of its fourth and final season in January. I for one cannot wait to see how humanity's epic journey will end and what that will mean for Roslin and Adama. So yeah, that gives you more than enough time to catch up on the phenomenon before the new eps air. Okay, I'll stop now. Only so much BSG selling one can do in a day.
