Who has the right to say who�s Maori and who�s not?
Because you can speak the reo does that make you Maori?
Because you have the land does that make you Maori?
Because you can weave or carve does that make you Maori?
Because you go to hui�s and tangi�s does that make you Maori?
Because you eat kina�s and kutai does that make you Maori?
Because you wear pounamu pendants or earrings does that make you Maori?
Or is it our colour?
Or is it because you were born Maori?
God decided who is and who is not
We were born without the reo
We were born with no knowledge of land
We were born not knowing how to weave or carve
We were born not being able to go to a hui or a tangi
We were born not being able to eat kina or kutai
and
God made us different colours because he has an excellent imagination
And all those things are our inheritance
We were born Maori!!
