The key to success with any child is understanding. Children have this way of knowing just what they want. And it's our jobs, as teacher, to let them know that it is ok to want things, but it is also our jobs to let them know at times they cannot always have what they want. We have to be understanding and sinsitive to a childs thught and feeling no matter the situation. They are the most important thing in this world and we have to let them know we care about them.
Teaching is not just a job. It's a responsability. A responsability not only to the children, but also the the parents and the world. It is the responsability of the teacher to prepare the children for the real world out side of the school house walls. Teachers give children the world and it is our resposability to teach them how to function in it. If a teacher does not live up to this responsability then they fail as a teacher.
This job, next to parenting, is the toughest job in the world. It is also the best job in the world. To see a childs face light up when they finally get that 3x6=18 or that reading a good book can be fun not just somethng they have to do, that is the best. To be a teacher it takes a big heart and a yerning for learning because the students will challenge you and will teach you something new everyday. |
