Anamnesis

The time has come to lay this heart down
It's been broken too long

The light of day is just too strong
For tired eyes like my own

Dark clouds creep in over my sky,
The sky where the sun used to shine so brightly for you,
Only you
Cold rain now falls violently to the ground
Drenching the soft earth with sorrow and forlorn regret
Each drop a tear I've cried for you,
Only you.

Thunder breaks, echoing through the shadows
Each rumble a heartbeat
A wrenching throb deep in my soul for you,
Only you
As the furious lightning flashes across the gloomy heavens
Waiting for the silence to return
I wait for you,
Only you.

My mind sometimes fools me into thinking you are here with me,
But as I look around
I see that I am
Only surrounded by a rainstorm
And memories of you.
