How To Make Earrings
With the Prom and Wedding Season right around the corner. I thought I would give you some ideas on coming up with the perfect earrings for your special occasion. When making jewelry for clients in the past I have always asked them for a swatch of the dress. If possible, the extra beads that sometimes come with the dress are great to take to your local bead isle at craft stores such as Pat Catans, Michaels or Bobby Lobby. Matching similar beads as well as colors is where it all starts. While there pick up a few other tools you will need to make the earrings.

Most Importantly Beads of your choice!
Now We Are Ready to Bead!
Try putting the beads you have chosen on a headpin to see how it looks.
I think you will find that putting the largest bead on first, and then following with smallers will look the best.
After you have decided on a design, start putting them on your headpins.
With the flat end of the headpin pointing down, hold the wire as close to the beads as possible. With the flat pliers as close to the top bead as possible, bend wire at a 90 degree angle.
Cut the end of the wire if it is too long for your loop. The size of the loop will depend upon the diameter of the needlenose pliers, and your preference. A larger loop may be easier at first. 7-10mm may be a good length.
With the tip of your needle nose pliers turn wire in towards the top bead. It should make a loop.
Now you need to re-open the loop sideways with flat pliers.
Hold the pliers on the end of the loop and bend it to side just enough to allow the earwire or earpost to slip on.

Slip the earhook or earpost on and close the loop in the same way that you just opened it, now you can make sure the loop is closed tightly so it is secure.

Now do the same process with the next earring and you have a pair!
Put the earbacks on and now you are done!

A few tips:
When choosing the beads, keep in mind that using large or several glass beads might make the earrings too heavy for your ears.
