Pamela earned her place in the history of rock and roll by pioneering a special kind of all-out fandom. She was wild about the music and musicians she idolized. So, she realized every girl's desire by getting ultra- close to the likes of many famous musicians, such as (the very-scrumptious) Jimmy Page, (the wild-and-crazy genius) Keith Moon and her former husband and father of her son, Michael Des Barres.

She has been referred to as The Queen of the Groupies / The Original Groupie, etc. --- terminology that stuck most especially after the release of her book I'm With The Band . I, however, personally prefer to refer to Pamela Des Barres as The Queen of Fandom, because the word "groupie" sounds so fluffy... There is nothing fluffy about what Pamela did.

Fandom is intense and an art form all its own. It not only takes guts to approach the foot of the altar - but you require the right energy and vibe to stay there. Pamela did that.

From her early pre-teen days of lusting after Dion, to the present, an established rock journalist, Pamela Des Barres love for rock and roll has never died.
