So we had the most amazing speaker at our Webgrrls meeting tonight. Her name is Loida Rosario and she's the owner of
El Coqui Gifts, Art with a Latin Twist!  Cool, no?  Anyway, since I was Notesgrrl tonight I had to really pay attention to every word, not that I usually don't, but it  was much easier this time.  She spoke with enthusiasm, flavor, and captivated the audience the whole time she spoke.  The topic was 'How To Get Started... In the New, New Economy'.  She explained how she started her business, what challenges she faced and still faces, how to actually start something on and  off-line, the resources available, and basically how to follow our dreams without giving up.  Her speech was like a jolt of caffeine, a rush of adrenaline.  It was a great meeting overall.
Anyway, since I took the 'el' downtown I wasn't really looking forward to taking it back home, but figured it was a good experience.  Finally  doing it on my own was a new experience.  Luckily though, my friend Lily (who recruited me for the note taking) asked if I needed a ride.  At first I said no because I'd still have to go get my car from the station.  But after  thinking about it for, oh five minutes, I said yes, especially since her  drive home passed right by where I'd left my car.  Cool.  We hadn't seen  each other in a few months so it was also a good time to catch up.  To my sadness, she says she wants to move to Georgia.  That sucks!  She was one of the few 'sistas' I could talk to at our meetings.  There aren't too many minorities at these meetings, so when you find someone you can relate to it makes it that much more fun and interesting.  A little spice never hurt anyone... or has it?  Anywho, she's not moving for at least a few months so we promised each other we'd get together for brunch.  She's a cool one.
Bored yet?  Me too.  Plus I gotta finish cleaning up for my sister's arrival tomorrow.  I'm soooo excited!  Can't wait to see them all.  Yahooo!
I leave you with a quote from tonight's meeting - "I know I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing."

Until then...

ps - remind to write about the bloody posters I saw today.... yes, bloody...

Stained glass is art... verdad?
