Pacman Frogs
Scientific name: Ceratophrys ornata

Group:

Origin:
South America, Colombia,Uruguay, Brazil

Average life span:
5-10 years

Disposition:
It is best not to handel pacmans unless you need to. They, like most amphibians soak up liquids through their skin, they can soak up oils in your skin which can harm them. Also, they will frequently pee on you and may even try to bite, these are signs that is stressed by you, another reason not to handle them.

Size:
Males usually get about 5 inches but females are much larger and can double the size of males.

Heating/Humidity:
Temperatures in the 80s are best with 70% humidity.

Housing:
A 10 gallon tank should easily house an adult pacman frog.
-Subsrate should be some sort of safe dirt, these frogs do almost nothing but burrow in the dirt with their eyes sticking out. The dirt should always be moist.
-A small water bowl is needed for them to soak in and drink. Be sure it is very shallow or it could easily drownd. One VERY important thing about the water is you may have to buy them bottled water. If there is any chlorine in your tap water or you have a water softener, the water can kill your pacman frog.
-Plants are nice to have in the cage, they may be able to hide under the leaves and it will help humidity.

Feeding:
Babies need to be fed daily, 3 crickets a day is best. They can also eat ocasional meal worms and wax worms. Adults can be fed one adult mouse a week, some adults get large enough to eat rats.
-Do not introduce pacmans to pinkies until they are a year old and do not feed them pinkies very often as pinkies are very fatty. If fed pinkies more than once a month the pacman could build up so much fat and fatty deposits, it could build over top of their eyes and blind them.
