Julia by Mish mish_rose@yahoo.com Complete story can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/mish_rose/Mishsite/Juli a.html Headers and Notes Classification: A/U, Post-col Keywords: MSR, Angst Rating: NC-17 for violence and sexual situations. Underage readers, you have been warned. Spoilers: Through "Requiem" Disclaimer: The X-files as we know it belongs to Chris Carter, FOX television, and 1013 Productions. I like to think the character of Julia Longfellow belongs to me, but I know that's not possible. Summary: A new identity... a new, dangerous society... an unchanged heart and soul. Begun: Thanksgiving Day, 1999 Finished: December 13, 2001 Notes: One very important tidbit to remember while reading - everything but the last scene of "Requiem" has occurred in this universe. This is *not* babyfic, sorry. :) No way could I fit the pregnancy into this story. And though it's been disproved since, Scully's cross made the trip with Mulder. As stated above, I began this story on Thanksgiving Day of 1999. I hadn't even begun to hear rumors of Mulder's abduction at that time, but it seemed to fit, considering the first chapter I wrote ended up being Chapter Four. It just made sense to the scenario I had in mind. This fic was abandoned many times, most especially when "Requiem" aired. I couldn't figure out how to incorporate the pregnancy storyline, then just decided to ignore it. Any similarities to other post-col fics is purely accidental. That's among the other reasons for periodic abandonment of the story; every time I'd begin again, I'd find a fic that had used a plot point I thought was original. ::sigh:: So once again, I'd fret for a month, then decide to plunge ahead. My apologies if some things look familiar; on the whole, I like to think that this is just my take on the post-col genre. Now, for the many thank-yous: First and foremost, to Galia. She's always been my number one friend and supporter throughout this whole thing. Her bus trip helped inspire Chapter One, though she tells me she doesn't remember it. The collages she's created are spectacular; they make me cry at the way she's captured Julia's courageous journey. Love you, my dear. And thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Bonnie... for lunch today, in honor of this posting, I say we have champagne and chocolate. :) Bonnie literally saved this fic from the fires of hell by saying, "You have to finish this!" when I showed her just how bogged down it had become. Her insight and stellar beta are what made this story salvageable. Thank you. Now... get back to work on Value and Honor. To Jintian and Diana Battis, for stalking above and beyond the call of duty. Y'all made me smile when I most despaired over finishing this, ladies. If anyone cares to see how I was tempted with Mulderlicious treats, courtesy of these two mischief-makers, take a look: http://www.geocities.com/museans/mishy.html Alicia! I finished it! :) Seriously, Alicia took the time to send hand-written beta on this monster, to which I was amazed. You are the best, sweetie. Take a bow... then write something! I miss your sparkling fic! Sybil: If not for your poking, I'd have been lost. Thanks, sweetie. Keep it up - it inspires me to no end. Last but not least, to Musea. In addition to the ladies above, I have to thank Blackwood, Cameo, Audrey Roget, and mountainphile... for beta, for inspiration, for everything imaginable. Most especially for just being there. We write because we like to; we put up with one another because we like *each other.* Hugs and kisses to you all, my sisters. :) Well, I guess that's it. If you made it this far, I hope you stick around for the more interesting stuff. And if you like ... or just want to tell me what a total waste of disk space this fic is, let me know at: mish_rose@yahoo.com Thanks so much for reading!
