| Recently James & Emma celebratrated their 9th birthday. It was a bit of a family day, with members of both sides attending. We had roast lamb for lunch, followed by strawberries & cream. With plenty of nibbles in between. The two Imp's received a variety of gifts, including; a skateboard, an Aussie Rules football, a Megabocks monster/crimefighter, computer games, some Lego, a pack of Mighty Beans, a pack of Uno cards, packs of Yu-Gi-Oh cards & a very well home-made, multi-purpose, bedside table each. Along with some money & some personalised stationary. |
| Socially, J&E have been "out & about" quite a bit. James was invited to a birthday party at the roller rink. They both went to the "big kids disco" at school recently, they thought that that was just a blast. Last week they went to the movies & saw "Finding Nimo"& "I Captured the Castle". they said they enjoyed both very much but liked the Nimo one the best |
| Sport plays an ever increasing role, in the kids lives. Their soccer season finished last weekend, although at their age it is suspose to be a non-competitive competiton (is that a tautology?) anyway, they play it with all the vigor & passion as the grown-ups. The last game their team played, was against a team that beat them 4 nil, earlier in the season. Unbeknown to us they hadn't been beaten or conceded a goal all season. J&E's team put an end to their perfect record, by drawing one all. It was climatic finish to the game. J&E's team was behind 1 goal for most of the game. In the dying seconds of the game, one of J&E's team mates made an astonishing run the entire length of the field & lobbed the ball over the keepers head as he came out to meet him. The full time whistle blew imediately after the goal & the goalie collapsed sobbing inconsolably & was still there 20 mins later when we left.... poor kid. Not too far back J&E competed in their school's athletics canival. Just finishing out of a place in most events. They raced in the 100 meters & the 800 meters the 100 meters relay the long jump & some novelty events. They did well in their respective heats, James winning his 100m heat & coming 4th in the final. He collected a 3rd place ribbon in the 100m relay. |
