Einst liebte er sich mit einer jungen Frau, die von den Sternen hinab auf die Erde kam.
Als die Sterne sie wieder zu sich riefen, schenkte sie ihn ein Kind, ein Mädchen mit der Schönheit der Sterne Macht.
Das Mädchen wuchs auf, von seiner Liebe beschenkt.
Doch die Menschen fraßen an Neid zu ihr, bis sie eine Frau von holder Schönheit ward.
Sie liebte den Geruch des Waldes und jagte mit den Wölfen, denn auch sie mußte nächtens einer sein. Als sie eines Nachts zurückgekehrt von blut 'ger Jagd, fand sie Ihn erschlagen und das Heim in Flammen.
Der Neid, der fraß, war schuld daran!
Sie legte sich in das kalte Gras, zu ihrem toten Vater hin, als sich ei silbern' Sternenschweif am firmament zu lösen schien.
Die einste'ge junge Frau, die von den Sternen kam, hielt Ihn in ihren Arm.
Ein warmer Schweif liebkoste Ihn, um seine Seel' zu entlocken.
Sie von geliebten Kinde Abschied nahm, hoffend, daß niemand meer sie quäle.
Noch einmal liebkosten die Schweife das weinende Kind.
Dann nahm sie Ihn mit auf weinendem Wind (zu den Sternen, wo ihre Liebe ewig währet).
In nächster Nacht, fand man auch die Tochter nicht mehr.
Man vernahm in der Ferne ei wehlklagendes Heul' verstummt, wußten die Mörder, sie würde kommen sie zu holen um Rache zu nehmen.
Ubrig blieb ein Fetzen Mensch
