 “The uses of tomatoes”

 

 

When you think of tomato processing, you probable think of canned tomatoes, tomato juice, tomato soup, catsup and spaghetti sauce. But there are tomatoes in many other things you eat too, like ravioli, hamburger relish, Spanish rice and pork and beans. In fact, probably not too many of your days are spent without the tomato in one form or another.

       Processing in a large plant is not much different from the process of canning tomatoes in your own kitchen; except for a couple of obvious things. The processing plants (can tomatoes) on a much bigger scales, and more quickly, (as many as 1200 cans a minute) and in those plants almost everything is done by machines.

Cuando piensa en el procesamiento del tomate, su reflexión probablemente es de tomates enlatados, jugo de tomate, sopa de tomate, salsa de tomate y salsa de espagueti. Pero también hay tomates en muchas otras cosas que usted come, de la misma manera que raviolis, salsa de hamburguesa, arroz español, cerdo y frijoles. A decir verdad, probablemente no todos sus días pasen sin el tomate de una forma u otra.

        El procesamiento en una planta grande no es muy diferente del proceso de enlatar tomates en su propia cocina; menos un par de cosas obvias. Las plantas de procesamiento (tomates enlatados), sobre una balanza es mucho más grande, y más rápidamente (no menos de 1200 latas x minuto) y en esas plantas, casi todo es hecho por máquinas.

 

 

 

 

“Flammable materials in your home”

 

Your home is filled with materials and products that will burn if ignited. Upholstered furniture, flammable clothing, drapery fabrics and liquids such as gasoline and volatile solvents are involved in many injury – causing – fires each year. Most of these tires could be prevented.

       We live with the ingredients of fire every day. Most of our cars and other powered equipment are fulled by an extremely flammable liquid, our homes are decorated with flammable fabrics and  upholstered furniture, and we wear clothing that can ignite with surprising ease. Our heaters and cooking appliances use open flames or glowing – hot elements. Many of us even carry fire sources in pocket or purse, in the form of matches or lighters.

 

 

"Materiales inflamables en su casa"

 

Su casa está llena de materiales y productos que se quemarán si encender. Mobiliario tapizado, ropa inflamable, telas de cortinaje y líquidos como gasolina y disolventes volátiles son involucrados en muchos incendios causantes de lesión todos los años. La mayoría de estos neumáticos podían ser prevenidos.

        Vivimos con los ingredientes del fuego todos los días. La mayoría de nuestros automóviles y otros equipos son  suministrados de energía por líquido sumamente inflamable, nuestras casas son decoradas con telas inflamables y mobiliario tapizado, y llevamos ropa que puede encenderse con facilidad sorprendente. Nuestros calentadores y aparatos de cocina usan encendedores electrónicos abiertos o elementos calientes. Muchos de nosotros llevamos recursos causantes de fuego en bolsillo o monedero, en forma de fósforos o encendedores.
