Parent Volunteer Opportunities
Booster Club Chairperson- overall duties
Duties include determining the teams financial yearly goals, planning and organizing the fundraising team. Putting together a dedicated, energetic and enthusiastic group of parent volunteers. Planning fund-raisers i.e. car washes, Track Meet concession operation for our team, soliciting corporate sponcers, candy sales, raffles, bingo, and 4th of July park sales etc. Acting as our team treasurer, maintaining records of income, expenses and cash balances.
Banquet Coordinator-overall duties
Duties: Plan for the year end "Athletes Banquet", make menu selections, confirm date, and place of banquet, determine cost per member to meet total cost of banquet. Pull together a dedicated, energetic and enthusiastic committee of parent volunteers. Who will function as a team to complete event planning from conception to closure.
Administrative Chairperson-overall duties
The administrative chairperson is one of the more critical, indeed important responsibilities of all team duties. The teams unite or disintegrate depending on how effective this function is carried out. This group will be responsible for getting all team related information to the parents via the kid or by telephone chain. Most of this information will be time critical. Team uniform orders, practice site and times, travel plans , track meet schedule etc.. You will be responsible for generating weekly information sheets for distribution to kids on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Your Volunteer parents need to have immediate access to a Personal Computers equipped with Word for Windows, a fax machine and day time accessibility to other team coordinators. Several coaches will be on your committee but they will not be available during practice times!
Public Relations Chairperson-overall duties
Publish a bi-monthly one-page newsletter about our athletes and team activities. Coordinate the gathering of information from parents and kids. Handle press releases to local newspapers such as SD Union and MM Scribe and Lens, and USATF track news. Keeping the local papers advised of upcoming competition as well as result. Also Make preparations of the team entry into the MM 4th of July Parade etc.
Transportation Coordinator-weekly duties
Prepare maps for each track meet locations. Gather information about our practice sites.
Research facility accommodations such as seating, bathrooms, inhabitants, temperature etc.
Arrange to and from transportation for team members whose parents are not able to bring them to
Track meet
Team Parent-weekly duties
Attend practice for one week to facilitate the distribution of paper information to team members and parents. Receive track meet fees, issue receipts and keep records of who has paid.
ASSISTANT COACHES
Assist "Event Coaches" during practice session, at meets, jogging with kids and couches on offsite training runs. Example jogs are around the school, from school to Miramar Road and back, jogging around Miramar Lake etc. Need only be present once or twice a week.
Please note- Your assistance may be needed to transport team members to "away" training or events
