ALL FOR NOTHING
PART TWO
CHAPTER ONE

Pan drove her CC SUV down the road, looking at the snow covered ground. She turned her head to the left reading the words Capsule Corporation through her sunglasses. She smiled to herself and pulled into the driveway. The large building was extravagantly decorated with lights and Christmas trimmings.
Pan turned off the engine, sitting still in her seat for a moment, trying to stop her heart from nervously pounding in her ears. Places dont really change much in three years, she thought.
Pan stepped out of the car, the morning was cold. She forced herself up the sidewalk to the door. Every fiber in her body was ready to turn and run back to the car, drive far away, and never come back. It had been three years since her fathers death. After he had died, she had moved across the continent, masking her ki, living in a city where no Brief could track her.
After all, she had wanted to be alone.
She rang the doorbell and stood there for a minute or two. She lightly tapped her booted foot against the floor. She crossed her arms and was ready to turn around when the door opened.
Hello? Can I help you Miss?
Pans eyebrows raised above her sunglasses as she surveyed the man in front of her. Whether she could believe it or not that man was definitely Trunks Brief. He looked somehow more handsome, as he had cut his hair into the short style he wore when he was a teenager. His blue eyes questioned her and flashed in recognition, then the flash was gone.
Do I know you? He asked, suspicion in his voice.
Pan smiled.
Trunks eyebrows furrowed. The girl wore jeans, which fit over her boots. She had on a pressed, white, collared shirt and a brown jacket. Her black hair was just longer than chin length.
Trunks reached out to take her sunglasses off but she reacted and caught his arm, laughing. Trunks recognized that laugh.
PAN?!
The girl laughed again, and using her free hand pulled off her sunglasses. She nodded.
Trunks couldnt contain his excitement. His best friend had come back, changed after the years. Well, he supposed they both had. For one, they had both cut their hair.
Trunks looked back at Pan, who wasnt wearing a gi or a lab coat, she actually wore clothes, and clothes that suited her figure, too. Trunks looked down at his own attire. Realizing that he was still dressed in a gray wife beater and red pajama pants.
Pan noticed this at the same time and covered her mouth, trying to suppress her laughter. Geez, Trunks, Im glad that it was only me when you answered the door!
Trunks laughed and stepped outside, toward her, landing a friendly peck on her cheek. I cant believe it! Youre back!
Pan nodded, still smiling. Hows your mom?
Good as ever!
Good, good, Pan nodded her head. They were quiet for a minute.
Trunks leaned against the house, crossing his arms. So youve been doing fine these last few years?
Pan nodded again, playing with the sunglasses in her hands.
Trunks went back to studying her. Ever since she was eighteen he had realized that he had a little crush on her and now it had reopened. But then, they were nine years apart and
you have no idea!
Trunks snapped back to attention. What?
I said I missed you guys a lot you have no idea.
Pan watched Trunks, who was still leaning against the house. He seemed so strong, polite and- and- well, she couldnt quite put her finger on it. Last time she had seen him he was twenty-six and still acting shy and awkward. It looked as if he had gotten over that now now he was self-assured and attractive. Every move he made, like when he raised his hand to brush the hair out of his face, was graceful and well practiced. His pale violet hair reflected the morning light. Pan studied his face, if he had Saiyan hair hed probably look just like his dad at least thats what she thought, trying to remember the old pictures of Vegeta she had seen.
You look good, Pan commented. Trunks shoved his hands into this pajama pockets, blushing at the comment.
So do you, he mumbled. Pan laughed. THERE was the old Trunks she knew. Shy, and trying not to make himself or his feelings too obvious. Trunks looked back at her after a moment.
Um do- do you want to come inside? Its kinda cold. Trunks asked motioning toward the open door. Pan shrugged and allowed her arms to flap back to her sides.
I guess I could.
Well, do you have a hotel while youre in town?
Pan shook her head. Nope.
Trunks scoffed. Well then, come and stay with us.
Pan  waved him off. I dont want to impose. Ill be fine.
Oh, come on, please?
No, Ill be fine.
Not wanting to press her, Trunks sighed and let her in. He, skipped down some steps and bounded into a large kitchen. Want anything to drink?
Pan shook her head. No, I just stopped to eat about thirty min-
Whos the young lady, Trunks? A female voice said from behind Pan. It had an accusatory twang to it.
Pan turned around to face Bulma who hardly looked a day older. She had a few laugh lines around her eyes and mouth, but other than that nothing at all had changed about her. Pan wondered for a moment if Bulma even aged.
Hello, Bulma, Pan said.
Bulma looked questioningly at Trunks.
Mom, its Pan.
Bulmas expression broke from a sly grin to a wide smile. She ran over to embrace the young woman.
Howve you been? Bulma asked.
Great! Ive been  taking some college science courses and Ive come back to get a job.
Trunks dropped a cup of water that he had just poured for himself. W-what?! Youre moving back?
Yup!
Thats great! Bulma exclaimed. We HAVE to go out! Pan nodded.
Plan on it, Pan stated. So whats new with you?
Bulma shrugged. Absolutely nothing. But Trunks has had a lot of stuff going on in his life-
Mom.
He-
Mom!
What dear?
Please.
Pan stood between the two, slightly confused. Well- I just wanted to say that Ive returned. Um, she pulled a scrap of paper out of her pocket. Heres my number and my apartment address. She turned and walked back to the door. And count on that day out, Bulma! Bye!
Pan shut the door and Trunks heard her pull away, sighing relief. Mom
What, honey?
Dont tell her okay?
Bulma was silent moment. Fine, but then you have to. You have a lot of catching up to do with her, young man.

Alright...so what doesn't Trunks want Bulma to tell Pan? Maybe you'll never find out... Or, you know, maybe you will
