| Hello, all. I've decided to copy Pojo.com's idea of giving real actors a Dragonball counterpart in case there's a sudden interest in making a DB movie. Now I hear you say, "But why if they already have one?" Well, because out of all the girls I think they cover about four of them. Plus I only agreed with one of their decisions. So I searched the web and tried to figure out which actresses suited my thoughts on the matter. If you agree or disagree, go ahead and contact me. First off, I thought Buruma and Marilyn Monroe just fit each other like gloves. Both are busty and can somehow sport afros and still look sexy. All Ms. Monroe would have to do is be alive and dye her hair blue. But hey, I figure if this is a world where Dragonball is a movie, it sure as hell can have Marilyn. Next I chose none other than the sardonic Janeane Garofalo of Mystery Men to play Son Chichi. They both sport dark hair and eyes, and I can just imagine Janeane getting into Gokou's face and yelling her brains out. The only problem is styling her hair to get those weird rectangular hair wispy thingies that Chichi's so fond of. But once again, Dragonball movie = anything's possible. Then there's Lucy Liu of Charlie's Angels and Ally McBeal. She'd be perfect to play Mai, not just because of the Asian mystique both characters have going, but because of the liquid movement both give off at the exact same time as being able to preform off the wall physical humor. I mean just look at them! Lucy's even got those strips of ebony hair falling in front of her shoulders! The only thing Lucy would have to do is get some green contacts and a wolf-midget named Shuu. Drew Barrymore was my choice to play Kushami. Nor just because she could easily look like her but rather her ability to a., act and act pretty well, and b., transform her facial expressions from sweet and innocent to seductive fatale the next. Don't ask me why, but that bow in her hair convinces me all the more. My next choice is Cameron Diaz for the infamous role of Jinzonigen Juuhachigou. At first I didn't agree with this selection, originally thought of by Pojo's Dragonball Z page, thinking that Gwyneth Paltrow would be better for the role. Looking again, I see Cameron is practically perfect for the role and Gwyneth makes a far better Marron. Just look at them! Both have flaxen blonde locks and light blue eyes. If 18 walked out of my TV and into the real world, this would probably be what she looked like. For the ever-peculiar Videl Satan, I chose none other than Neve Campbell of Drowning Mona and Scream. The dark hair and eyes (remember, Videl had black eyes in the b&w manga) fit perfectly, and Neve, while not at her best in sequels, is actually a pretty good actress. (See Drowning Mona, it is hilarious). She looks very feminine, but most of her roles are that of a take charge girl. Okay, can you not see it?! Gyneth Paltrow, of Sliding Doors and Shakespeare in Love would be an excellent GT Marron. She has the long blonde locks that could easily be tied into two cute pigtails and the bright blue eyes. She looks softer than Ms. Diaz, but still, even though they aren't related, I think the two look a bit alike. It'd be the perfect peice of heredity, and besides, just imagine Paltrow in Marron's pink jumper. For Bra, I had a lot of trouble. Pojo claims Sarah Michelle Gellar would be an excellent match for Bra, but that didn't do it for me. She just looked too...clean cut. Bra has an edge, and I think the best actress to portray this was Julia Stiles of 10 Things I Hate About You. Now, I'm not a rabid fan of Stiles, in fact I think that's the only movie I've seen her in, but she is a good actress, and besides, she was in the same movie as Joseph Gorden Levitt (Very hot.) For Son Pan, I chose a young Winona Ryder from the cult classic Beetlejuice, a movie so appealing it actually spawned a cartoon series of it's own. She also starred in Girl Interrupted, a pretty good movie all in all. I chose her to be Pan not for personality or flare, because she's been acting for a long time and could fairly easily get Pan's character down pat. I chose her because of her looks. Compare the pics and you'll see that all Ryder needs is an orange bandana and she'll a carbon copy of Pan. |
